Flee

With no idea what he's got behind his back, and no idea exactly how badly dazed he is, you make the only logical decision. You spin and take off sprinting again, turning right as something flashes by your side, crackling faintly. He's got a taser. That's not good, but it's inconsequential for the moment. He missed, but you've got a head start, are much faster than him, and a taser's range is rather short.

Playing your advantages to the fullest, you sprint down the aisle, making for the far wall across the store. Behind you, Eddie's vehement swearing follows you, as you hear him struggling to his feet again. Risking a glance over your shoulder, you spot him as he rounds the corner, hands fumbling with the taser as he attempts to load the cartridge again. His eyes flick from the taser to you, full of malice, promising horrible things to you when he catches you, and that spurs you on.

He hollers something at you, but the slaps of your soles against the concrete and the thunder of your heart in your ears drown it out. You cut left, flying down another aisle, before cutting right again, and sprinting out the far sides of the racks. As you emerge, you spot a small hallway in the wall, and you dash into it, turning to the first door you find and fumbling for the doorknob.

As you fumble with the knob, you hear Eddie's pounding feet coming your way, growing closer by the second. You manage to get the door open, ducking into the pitch-black room, as Eddie's footsteps abruptly come to a halt short of the hallway. "Shit! Fuck off, you damned crazy---." The rest of his sentence is lost as you hear a series of moans, and dozens of feet scraping against the floor. Shutting the door, you quietly shift a table you nearly stumbled into across the door, as Eddie's muffled swearing turns to screams.

This isn't good. You've got a pistol but no ammo, you're naked, and the crazies are here, no doubt attracted by the gunfire and shouting from your chase. You quickly feel about the pitch-dark room, careful to make as little noise as possible, hoping beyond hope that you can find something to use. As you feel along the wall, your hand comes into contact with cloth, and you pull it from it's peg. You can't tell what it is, and you don't have time to put it on, but clothing is clothing, and you'll take what you can get. Continuing to probe down the wall, you find something else, your hand wrapping around a wooden shaft. Running your hand down it, you're surprised to find you've found a sledgehammer, but you're not one to look a gift horse in the mouth. Picking it up as well, you move a bit farther down the wall, finding another door on the far side. A careful search of the center of the room yields a water bottle, which you quietly crack and down. The rest of the room is bare, as far as you can tell.

You can no longer hear Eddie screaming, and you almost feel a pang of sympathy. He may have been a slimy, selfish asshole, but no one should have to die under a swarm of crazies. Well, maybe he deserved it. Either way, you've got no idea if the crazies are still out there. You do know they'll be spreading out, though, searching for more of the living.

The only remaining question is when to leave. The crazies should be scattering by now, having finished their business with Eddie. You're definitely not equipped to fight them, though. You need to get back to Eddie's office, if you can, and collect your supplies. If you wait here, they'll spread farther, possibly making it easier to work your way back through them. However, if you're not mistaken, the other door you found leads to the warehouse and loading dock. If you duck out there now, there's a good chance you can slip away before the crazies spread too much. If you go that way, however, the only exits lead outside, or back into the store again. You'll have to risk a trip around the outside of the mall to get back into it.
