First you decide to use your car for the extra freedom

I navigated the stairs with ease in spite of my tall shoes. I'm no stranger to high heels, liking the higher vantage point, but mostly I like the way they make my legs look. Today the 2 inch platforms combined with the steep shoes gave me an extra five-inches that I relished.

My parents had long ago given me 'the speech' and told me they would support me if I chose to be active. In spite of their liberal attitudes I was still glad they weren't there as I sauntered out the front door and down the porch steps.

A neighbor, Josh McKinnock, who wasn't much older than me, stopped watering his parents' lawn to stair, the hose in his hand tilting upward and spurting water up into the air like an exploding cock. I'm sure my english teacher would be proud of me for that metaphor.

"Hi Josh!" I chirped. The two of us were never friends, having never been in the same grade, but we would always nod or say 'hi' in passing. Today he just gulped and vaguely raised a hand as he stared as me. I guess I must clean up well.

"Hello baby," I murmered to my sporty little convertible. It was a graduation gift from my parents, and although it might sound fancy, the cherry red car was actually ten years old before it came to me. Still, it ran well and my dad did regular maintenance on it to prevent rust and keep it in tip-top shape. The one downside was that it was a soft-top so when the weather turned cold the heater wouldn't do much.

I thought briefly about taking the bus, or walking, or maybe even asking Josh for a lift, but in spite of the chance to be ogled that those gave me taking my car would give me more freedom. If my first choice didn't pan out I could always go somewhere else.

Giving Josh and his spurting hose one more wave I backed out of the driveway and set off to find adventure. Or at least men.

Now if I could just decide where to go...
