First it needs a paint job.

Things got a bit more complicated before we could start living in the apartment for the summer. Jessie and Marisa got into some pretty bad fights with each other during the last months of their senior year, which was unusual for them. I didn’t know what they fought over, and the whole thing was very mysterious to me, since I’d only seen the twins getting along well together before that. They patched things up before June, but they decided it wasn’t a good idea for them to share a bedroom in the apartment like we’d planned.

That was a problem, because the apartment only had 3 bedrooms. However, we did have a fourth room that was a huge mess, a combination closet and storage room. We decided all it needed was some cleaning up and a new paint job, and it would make a perfect bedroom for Jessica.

That’s how I found myself here this afternoon, in the apartment I’d grown up in, painting a room with my two new stepsisters, just a few hours before Traci was going to arrive and move in with us
