Chapter 153 by bobbobbobthethir

What do you do?

Find Adriana and Catch this Predator

“Thanks for the offer, man, but I’m going to try my luck the regular way,” you say, giving him a pat on the back.

Calling him out alone here at the side of the bar isn’t going to do you any good. You need to find somebody who will help you shut down this asshole before he can do any real damage. And who better for that than Adriana?

The brunette babe is holding court at the far end of the bar, a small circle of guys and girls surrounding her. The freshman’s already got a name for herself, and she’s looking smoking hot tonight in a long red dress that must have cost her thousands—that, or a perk that came with her modelling work. The guys around her can’t tear their eyes away from her body, but she looks disinterested, giving lazy answers to their lazy questions, her empty glass sitting next to her the sign of a finished drink.

Good thing you’ve got the perfect distraction for her.

“Hey, we’re kind of full around here,” one of the guys says as you approach the table.

“Can’t you see? All the seats are taken,” another chimes in.

“That’s not an issue,” you say dismissively. “That’s going to be an empty chair in a minute. Adriana, want to walk with me for a second? I’ve got something big that you’ll be interested in.”

She meets your eye, curious of what you have to offer. You turn and walk away, trusting that she’ll join you. A moment later, she joins your side as you pace down the length of the bar. You can almost feel the acrid glares from the chumps back at the table, so mad that you ‘stole’ their girl.

“What have you got? This had better be good,” she says. “Or you’ll have wasted my time, and I’ll put you on the ChiO blacklist.”

“Is that even a thing?” you ask, before her serious gaze tells you that yes, that very much is a thing.

“Okay,” you continue. “See that guy over there, by the side? Wearing black?”

Adriana nods, still not really sure of where you’re going with this.

“He just tried to sell me roofies.”

Her eyes widen, and you see her hands clench.

“He’s dealing in this bar?” she seethes. “What a shitbag of rotten trash! Anybody’s drink could be spiked... We’ve got to warn everyone.” She grabs your arm and asks: “Can you get everyone’s attention? How loud can you shout?”

“HEY!” you scream at the top of your lungs. “”EVERYONE, THERE’S…”

You let your voice trail away as nobody reacts. The music is too loud, and everyone else is practically yelling to compensate, and so go your hopes of attracting anyone’s attention, much less everyone’s.

“This isn’t going to work,” you say, needing to raise your voice just to talk with Adriana. “I can go to the bouncers, get that guy kicked out, but there might still be roofies running around the party…”

“Get the bouncers to sort him out,” she says. “I’ve got a plan to warn everyone else.”

She gives you an assured nod, which you take as your signal to get going.

The bouncers make quick work of the roofie dealer, the two jacked guys storming into the bar and lifting him by his shirt. His weak protests turn to pleading mewls when they shake him down and find the baggie on him, which they promptly trash before kicking his ass to the curb.

Seconds later, the music blasting through the bar abruptly goes silent. There’s a moment of screeching feedback through the speakers, guaranteeing that everyone’s attention is gotten, and then you hear Adriana’s voice over the loudspeakers.

“Ladies and gentlemen, moments ago we apprehended a man selling roofies in this bar. As of this moment, any of the drinks in your possession may be contaminated, and the same could be true of any further drinks you order tonight. Look out for yourself! Watch your friends! Make damn sure that shitbag and his friends don’t get what they want tonight.”

Sobering words. The music starts up again a minute later, but the worried conversations all around you drown out the thumping bassline. Adriana comes out of the backroom, and she’s immediately swamped by her ChiO sisters. Some of them are expressing concern, others thanking her for the warning, but a far greater number are telling her off, the catty glares and sarcastic asides clear to you even from a distance.

You hastily make your way to Adriana’s side, just in time to hear some bitchy blonde girl saying: “Yeah, thanks a lot for shutting this party down, Adriana, way to kill the mood.”

“Oh yeah, I forgot that sorority policy’s to look the other way while our sisters get **** and ****,” she spits back.

Get **** and ****,” some other girl parrots in an artificially high voice. “How imbecilic do you have to be think that announcing to the whole fucking party that we had a fucking roofie dealer in here was the best course of action? There are, like, a billion ways to get rid of a guy like that—”

“—and you didn’t have to destroy our reputations like that—” another girl jumps in.

“—this is going to be all over the Grey tomorrow, Jesus Christ you’re a stupid girl—”

“You all SHUT THE FUCK UP,” you shout, pushing up to Adriana’s side. “This girl, right here, she’s the only one who noticed and did a single fucking thing about the date-**** **** in this bar.” You spin around, pointing at the blonde bitch. “You, standing there so smugly, how would you have liked some asshole to be **** you over some park bench right now? Yeah, not such an appealing thought, is it?” You give the girls a good glare. “Get off her case. She did the right thing.”

“Get off your high horse,” some girl laughs, but most of them look decently chastised, realising the truth of your words.

You give the sorority sisters one final look, and then back off, heading to the bar for a much needed drink.

As you’re pounding down a shot a couple minutes later, you see Adriana approaching you out of the corner of your eye.

“They were right,” she mutters, folding her arms over her chest. “Party’s over now.”

The bar has been steadily clearing out since the announcement was made—the dance floor no longer so raucous, the bar a far cry from the frenzied state it was in just half an hour earlier. Your eardrums feel like they’ve finally gotten a break. So maybe the ChiO girls had a point, but still...

“You made the right call,” you say, putting a hand on Adriana’s shoulder. “Come on, I’ll get you a drink. Call it a just dessert for saving the other girls in this bar, even if they can’t appreciate it.”

“I know I did the right thing,” she says, and you realise there’s a playful smirk on her lips. “When I said that the party’s over, I meant it. We should slip out.”

“You and I?” you say, not quite believing your ears.

“Not giving you a second chance,” she says, taking off from the bar.

You hurriedly get up and follow behind her, saying: “You’re not going to regret this.”
