Chapter 30 by Acorn142 Acorn142

What do you do?

Fight them

You realize what a fool you have been to think you could outsmart Dr. Burbank. He’s obviously been one step ahead of you this entire time, and now he’s gotten here ahead of you and convinced Dr. Hotstetter to help him in his mad plot against you!

You stand and say, “I don’t know what you think you’re doing, but leave me out of it. I didn’t ask for this to happen to me, but you’re sure as hell not going to get your hands on me again!”

You focus your mental energies on Burbank and try the invisibility thing again. You feel a tiny surge of energy within you, but it dies almost as soon as it starts. You turn your attention toward Hotstetter, but you feel unsteady, as if you had suddenly stood way too quickly and are in danger of passing out.

You open your mouth to speak, but before you do, you feel a sharp pain in your neck. You turn and see Jeff, the medical student, standing there with a syringe, which he has apparently just emptied into your neck. You start to protest, when Jeff brings his fist up abruptly and powerfully, striking your chin and sending you falling to the floor.

“I told you not to hurt him!” you hear Burbank yell. You try to lift your head, but it feels like it is made of iron.

“That’s for knocking me out,” said Jeff says to you, “and for your freaky demon possession of my girlfriend.”

You manage to look up and see the two scientists cauatiously approaching you. The next thing you see is ....

*** BLACKNESS ***

When you wake up, it takes you a while to remember what is going on. At first you think you are paralyzed by whatever **** Jeff gave you, but then you realize you are strapped to a hospital bed. You are back at the laboratory on campus.

“He’s waking up.”

You turn your head and see Amy, looking at you with a mixture of fear and something else — possibly loathing?

Dr. Burbank enters the room. “How are you feeling, Justin? I’m sorry we had to sedate you, but it was for your own good. We are running out of time.”

Without waiting for an answer from you, he steps to another hospital bed and checks on its occupant. With a start, you realize that it is you! Well, it is your body, anyway. It seems like forever since that body housed your consciousness.

“Maybe we should sedate him some more,” said Amy. “Last time he was here he took control of my body.”

You look at Amy and see her shudder at the thought. You can see she is angry, but in your defense, you were scared to ****, and it isn’t like you made her do anything she hadn’t done willingly a bunch of times already. You open your mouth to speak, but your mouth feels like it is full of cotton, and you can’t say a word.

Burbank is busily adjusting some equipment. He says, “He is already in such a weakened condition that we dare not give him anything else. I don’t think he is capable of any further mind control, anyway, or he would have done so back at Hotstetter’s house.”

Jeff steps into the room and stands next to Amy. “He can’t be too out of it,” he says, motioning toward the lower half of both strapped-in bodies. “He’s got a full-blown erection in both cases.”

Only then does it dawn on you that you are naked, as is your body on the other bed.

“I believe we are about ready,” says Burbank. “Let me make one last adjustment in the control room.”

He leaves you with Amy and Jeff. They both glare at you for a moment before Amy says, “Do you suppose he really didn’t know what he was doing?”

Jeff shakes his head. “Hell if I know.” He puts an arm around her, but she shakes it off.

“I still can’t believe you couldn’t tell that it wasn’t really me,” she says, obviously referring to the incident when you took over her body and had a rip-roaring round of hot sex with Jeff just a few feet from where you now lay.

“I’ve told you already, Amy, that I had no idea what was going on. For all I knew, you were just really horny, and what did you expect me to do? Try to stop you from jumping my bones?”

Burbank returns at that moment, preventing further discussion.

“Now, Justin, we are going to try to return you to your body. You are very weak, and we may only have one opportunity to get it right. When I tell you to begin, I want you to focus all your energy on reuniting with your body. Do you understand?”

You nod your understanding, but at the same time, you hear internal warning bells, sounding all kinds of alarms. You still don’t trust Burbank, and Jeff and Amy have enough reason to hate you, that it wouldn’t surprise you if they sabotaged this whole thing for the purpose of killing you.

You desperately look around for some options.

Burbank flips a switch, and you hear a pump begin whirring. “The adrenaline should help you regain some strength for the procedure,” he says, and you feel a bit of strength begin to return to you.

“It is time,” said Burbank, and he pushes some buttons. “Now, Justin, focus on returning to your body!”

What do you do?
