Chapter 5 by Reactor Reactor

How long does it take to assemble this bed?

Far too long.

Assembling the bed takes -far- longer than you thought it would. By the time you and your sister finish putting it together, it's already 9:30. Every time you've walked out to the storage room to grab a tool or anything, Celina had just been sitting in the chair, staring at nothing. You suggested that she watch TV a couple times, but she never seemed interested. At one point, you stopped bed production to make her a peanut butter and jelly sandwich, which she ate quickly dispite saying she wasn't hungry every time you asked.

The bed itself proved to be some problem, as well. The base of the frame wouldn't stay in place, and every time you tried to screw it together the board would shift. Eventually, you just drilled some new holes, and left it where it was.

When you finally finish, your sister realises how late it is, and quickly says goodbye to both you and Celina quite quickly, grabs her coat, and leaves. It takes you a couple minutes before you realise you forgot to ask her what the deal was with this fancy, homeless girl, but you figure that it can wait a little while. You're not going to ask Celine about it yourself, you figure that girl is creepy enough that upsetting her in some way might cause her to snap and freak out.

Nonetheless, you tell her that the bed is finished, and you sit across the table from her for a couple minutes. Neither of you say anything, and she avoids looking at you. You get fed up with trying to be friendly with her, and realise that can come later. You got to the couch and do some TV watching until it gets late.

You look back at Celina a couple times, and realise that she looks like she's almost falling asleep at the table. You figure that she's probably had a very difficult week, with not much sleep, even though you still don't know what the deal with her is.

You try to convince her to go to bed, and she tries to argue with you that she's not tired when she clearly is. After a few minutes of 'polite' argument she finally says "...okay."

You lead her down the hall and carry her bag with her. When you get to the bedroom, she grabs the bag out of your hand and tosses it right on top of the top bunk, and climbs up right after it. She immediately lies down and pulls the sheet overtop of herself and closes her eyes. You realise that the only thing she's taken off since she got here was her hat, she's still wearing her huge dress and even her cloth boots. It can't be comfortable, but whatever, it's not your place. You head back into the living room and sit in front of the TV.

She's an odd one, alright. But in order to keep your apartment you're going to need to keep her around. This is going to be a very awkward week.

Now I feel...
