Explanations (2)
It had been a while since the newly risen undead made their way to their new friends for information and found a welcoming sight. Another, more experienced vampyr allowed them in while her companion stood far behind her. And now, they learning some of the factors of being a nosferatu, not that there was anything wrong with what was happening at the moment. In fact, Grace and Anne had long since forgotten about James all together.
“All nosferatu are **** to silver and wood,” began Olivia, and taking a small breath continued, “Our bodies will normally heal very fast from most lacerations and broken bones…almost instantly…but injuries made from silver or wood will take a whole lot longer to heal.”
“That is why hunters use wood for their weapons like stakes and crossbow bolts to pierce our hearts,” Silvia added and then started pointing to the generally are of where her heart was, “In fact, anything piercing the heart will put us into a temporary **** unless the object is removed…it’s actually quite surprising on how much the movies get right about us.”
“Wood, however, is the most dangerous to our bodies and why it’s used for stakes,” Liv continued, she then looked to the auburn-haired girl.
With a smile, she returned her elderly companion’s gaze then looked to their guests, “We can regain animation as soon as the stake, or whatever, is removed from our hearts, but there is a way for us to be killed permanently this way.”
The lovers looked to each other, they did not like the sound of the warning. Grace gave Anne a worried look before the brunette reached out to grasp her beloved’s hand. The blonde woman smiled as she turned to face the apartment’s undead tenants.
“A permanent kill is when our bodies crumble to dust and this will only happen if 1) our head is cut off during the time of when our hearts are pierced with silver or wood,” explained the elderly vamp with her wrinkled index finger pointing up and then with her middle finger popped up Liv continued, “or 2) when the wood that is piercing the heart is made of oak.”
“S-so…our bodies will turn to dust if our hearts are stabbed with a piece wood of oak,” responded Grace, trying to absorb this crucial data, “and if our heads are cut off, should we get stabbed in the heart by anything made from any other piece of wood or silver. Did I get all that right?”
The 2 of the more experienced nosferatu nodded, each hoping for that their warnings would have an impact. Covering true **** was only the beginning however, Anne and Grace still lacked the knowledge of the other weaknesses the undead were known for. It was not like the fresh vamps were totally ignorant of their bodies, but they were just uninformed.
“Umm…I remember reading ‘Dracula’ by a man named Stoker back in school,” mentioned Anne with her finger to her lip in contemplation, “I do recall something about garlic. How does that work, does it really repel us?”
“What’s wrong?” asked the blonde when she was the older vamps stiffen when ‘Dracula’ left her beloved’s lips, “Did Anne say something wrong?”
“No, no, dear,” Olivia quickly replied while waving her wrinkled hands, “I-it’s nothing…really!”
“Y-y-yeah!” Silvia added so as to quickly move on to more important information, the less they knew about the king, Vlad Dracula, the better, “Any way...Anne, you said garlic, right?”
The brunette vampyr nodded at the undead teen’s question to her own inquiry, “Yes, what does garlic do to us, how does it repel us?”
“It…doesn’t…at least, not the way the humans believe,” the auburn-haired girl answered with a fanged smirk, “In fact, it only acts as a repellent because it’s how we survive.”
The visitors looked to each other with confusion etched on to their faces. How does garlic as a repellent help in survival? There was a clear question in their scarlet eyes when they looked to their hosts.
“How does a repellent being used against us help us to survive? That doesn’t make sense, Silvia,” said Anne as she looked at the undead teenager while holding out her uninjured hand, then a thought occurred to her, “The only thing I can think of is that the repulsion is avoidance.”
Silvia’s brown eyes flashed to red when she heard the brunette’s assessment, “Exactly! We avoid the places with garlic because it drains our physical strength; the closer we are to the stuff, the more of our strength fades and the faster it leaves. If it’s within foot of us, our strength will just about gone and we wouldn’t be able to stand. Which would leave us helpless for someone to capture, ****, or kill, or do all 3 that order.
“That makes sense,” replied Grace upon absorbing the information.
Of course, she was so focused on the information being given to them that Silvia’s irises color change was the last thing she was though about. Despite being the first thing she noticed about the undead teen before she answered her sister’s discernment of garlic repelling them. This was something she would have to ask about herself. That is if the brunette had seen and thought to ask first.
