Excuses, alibis and ominous promises.

As Derek retreated to the bathroom, Beth slumped down into the armchair in a daze. What am I doing? It's so wrong...it feels so good, though. Derek had shown himself to be exactly what Brian had said... and she had let him do everything they had done in spite of that. No... because of it!
Beth felt despair at the inability to understand her own actions, and then realized she had to cover her alibi with Lindsay, in case Derek texted her directly.
She fumbled for her phone and dialed. After a few rings, Lindsay answered.
"...take a breather, baby... Hey, girl!" Lindsay sounded out of breath.
"Hey...sorry if I interrupted..." Beth knew that it was likely she had interrupted Lindsay during sex.
"Never, baby girl. What's up?"
Beth didn't exactly know how to go about explaining her situation. "I just need to you to...if Brian calls you or texts you, you and I are out together drinking and I'm wasted."
A moments pause, and then Lindsay gave an excited chuckle. "Oh, shit? For real? You're asking me to give you an ALIBI?!"
Beth winced. "Just...please?"
"Girl, you don't have to ask twice, but...Oh my GOD!!!"
"Just... don't ask...not right now." Beth didn't think she could handle trying to confess to Lindsay what she had done.
"Sure, baby..sure. Later."
"Thank you."

As she hung up, Derek returned from the bathroom. "Ready for more?"
"Derek....I... I have to go home."
"What's the problem?"
"What's....?" Beth floundered. "This! Everything we did tonight...it was wrong!" As she listened to herself, a part of her wondered if she was trying to convince herself of her own words.
"Yeah? You enjoyed it though."
Beth couldn't refute him, as much as she wanted to. "You!...You are exactly...what he said..."
"Yeah, pretty much." Derek just pursed his lips and nodded. "And he hasn't gotten any better at stopping me."
"Well...we can't...this isn't going to...." Why can I not finish a fucking sentence?
Derek laughed. "If you say so..." he stepped closer and she steeled herself when he reached out to take her chin in his hand and make her look into his eyes. "You can deny it, but I know when I've got a girl on the hook." Something in Beth's heart, and in her loins, melted at his words and tone. No....he's...he's wrong. He's...fuck I need to go!
"Please take me back to my car." She hated how small and pleading her voice was.
"Of course." His tone was not disappointed, or even surprised; it was all confidence and satisfaction, which Beth found infuriating. "Though, you shouldn't be driving in your condition."
"What? I'm not..."
"You're in the bathroom at the club with Lindsay, puking from too much to drink....remember?" He was so smug as he got dressed. "You should probably put your clothes on."
Beth's mind worked. "I...I....guess you should drop me off at home, then." I'll have to have Lindsay drive me to get it tomorrow.
Beth dressed herself and cleaned herself up, though not so much that the story of her getting plastered would still be believable. Derek said little as he drove her back to her apartment complex.
"Thanks...for a nice evening." Beth tried to sound as neutral as possible. Despite her shame....it had been.
"You're welcome. It'll be nicer next time."
"Derek, there's not going to...."
Derek's hand came to rest on her knee. Just a touch, but it shut off her words as if he had put it over her mouth. "Of course there will be. I'll see you on Monday."
Beth stumbled out of Derek's car. After he sped away, she stood for a minute, trying to compose herself. She also tried to ignore the fresh wetness between her thighs.
