Entering the device

The electric humming came from the metallic walls as he pushed himself up. Bands of light in the walls illuminated what looked like a set from a sci-fi movie, just like he had dreamed about. Behind him, the entrance to the corridor was open, although he could make out something like a **** field, which probably looked and felt like a solid rock from outside.

Then he pushed himself up and looked around. “Hello? Is someone here?” he called down the corridor. Nobody answered but he noticed how the light bands started to signalize him to walk down the corridor. Slowly and carefully he stepped forward, unsure how safe this place was.

After following the corridor for a little while, he reached a larger room and noticed that several doors were leading in different directions. Just as he stepped in, something happened. The lights switched on and the whole room seemed to come alive.

“Welcome, Jack,” a female voice said.
