Chapter 14 by pizzaeater9 pizzaeater9

Fight the warlock in the colosseum

Enter the chamber

As you and your group reach the door to the massive arena, you glance at both of your teammates, and you all nod in unison before you blast the door down with a fireball spell. "Cast ignis two!" you shout, holding the recently created spellbook that is hovering over your hand. A moderately sized ball of flame flies out of your right hand and crashes into the door, causing it to fly off its hinges into the dirt in the arena with a loud metallic bang.

The undead warlock appears in the center of the arena, once again summoning its army of skeletons. You quickly analyze the situation, realizing that defeating the warlock's army is crucial before confronting the warlock itself. As your teammates engage in combat with the skeletons, you focus your energy on casting a powerful area-of-effect spell to decimate the undead forces.

Sera goes forward and rushes the small army, tanking most melee attacks because they won't damage her slime body. Lia stands beside you, picking off individual skeletons that get too close to Sera. You finally finish channeling your area-of-effect skill, causing four massive blue magic circles to appear, circling above the undead threats, before you clench your right hand, casting the spell. "Cast sunder four!" you yell, causing a massive thunderbolt to rip through the magic circles and disintegrate the army below with a huge cracking sound.

The warlock raises its staff, causing a volley of dark mana orbs to fly at you and your party. You all dodge and roll out of the way, narrowly avoiding getting hit. Sera sneaks behind the skeleton overlord and gives it a huge heavy punch, which shatters the boss into pieces on the floor. You all fall over, exhausted from the fight, and pant heavily, trying to catch your breath. Lia looks troubled, and she says, "That fight was surprisingly easy. Good thing you have that spellbook!" You nod in agreement, grateful for the power the spellbook has provided throughout your journey. However, deep down, you can't shake the feeling that something isn't quite right. The ease of the battle and Lia's troubled expression leave you with a lingering sense of unease.

Suddenly, the shattered remains of the skeletal boss start to twitch and reform themselves. The pieces of bone slowly come together, forming a complete skeleton once again. Your heart races as you realize that the boss isn't defeated yet. It seems like there's more to this fight than meets the eye, and the newly empowered monster casts a huge black thunderbolt towards you and your teammates. The attack hits with a **** that sends you flying backward, leaving you disoriented and gasping for breath. The battle is far from over, and the stakes have just been raised to a whole new level. Sera lands another big hit on the boss, but it throws her off with a wind spell. Lia also gets a few hits with her bow that pierce the boss's bony structure, knocking it over once again.

Unfortunately, it gets back up once more, even more powerful. After about eight more resurrections of the seemingly immortal monster, you and your teammates are starting to feel the weight of exhaustion. Each time it rises, it becomes stronger and more relentless, making it clear that defeating this boss will either end in your victory or the end of you and your team. Then something clicks in your brain, realizing that you only have one option left with your dwindling mana supply. The odd spell you discovered at the back of the book. You cast it, shouting "Cast Un-resurrection!" A blinding white light envelops the skeleton, like a huge pillar coming down from the heavens. Eventually, the light clears, and in place of the large skeleton is a pale girl, passed out on the ground. She has white hair and is wearing black clothes. She is pretty curvy and somewhat tall, and she is currently asleep on the ground.
