Chapter 12

Ship Shopping?
Enter the VTX-30
You grinned as you watched Tanna’s stunned face staring at your new ship.
“I thought you were buying a ship not a kriffing cruiser!” Tanna exclaimed as she craned her neck in an attempt to see the cockpit towering above her.
“It was only 70,000 credits” you say knowing full well that it wasn’t all that expensive for what it was.
“Only 70,000 credits he says” Tanna sighed, putting a hand on her head.
“A dreadnought, or so I’m told, costs several hundred thousand to a million credits” you reply with a shrug. “Wanna see inside?” you ask before heading to the boarding ramp under the ship’s nose.
The boarding ramp leads you into the ship’s cargo bay, which ran the length of the ship behind the nose. Halfway down the cargo bay was an access way that led to the crew deck, which you both scaled.
“This ship is already amazing and I’ve only just stepped onto it! We could store other ships in that cargo bay!” Tanna exclaimed. It was true, you probably could store a small ship in the cargo bay. If you had to describe it, it was probably the size of a C-5 Galaxy’s cargo bay used by the US on earth.
“It gets better, the ship has three decks, we’re on deck two and the cargo bay is deck three” You said as you lead your Twi’lek through a mess hall, past the galley and past the crew quarters to a set of stairs. These stairs lead you both to the command deck.
“Whoa” Tanna said, looking at the large rectangular holotable in the centre of the room.
“Welcome to the CIC” you say “The ship was apparently intended to be used by the Judicial Forces for Outer Rim anti-piracy work” you explained.
“How come it’s so cheap then? And how come it’s on the open market?” Tanna asked turning to face you.
“Apparently the guys making the ship never got the contract so they converted it into an oversized freighter” You reply, walking around the holotable and through a door. “This is the cockpit” you say, looking at the three chairs arrayed in a crescent shape with the pilot’s seat directly in the middle.
“What was the door back there on the other side of the CIC?” Tanna asked
“That would be the captain’s quarters” you say “or rather MY quarters” you add as Tanna’s face lit up, only for it to drop again.
“I didn’t realise that officer Decklin gave you so many credits” Tanna commented as she walked over to inspect one of the consoles.
“Oh he didn’t, I actually used his credits and the fact that they were Judicial credits to mount some military grade shields on the ship” you reply casually, spinning the pilot’s chair around and sitting down in it. You had already gone through the ship and changed a few things, like the seating. Now, instead of nearly bouncing off the seats from how hard they were, you sank in comfortably. Tanna also decided to try the seats, and you heard a sigh of contentment as she sank into her own seat.
“What kind of kriffing seats are these?” Tanna asked as she clumped into her chair.
“An after market modification it seems” you reply, not telling her you just used your god powers to change them.
“What else has this ship got on it?” Tanna asked, turning her seat around to face the console and hitting a few buttons.
“It’s got a pair of powerful repeating laser cannons, Class 2 hyperdrive, though I think it was intended to have a Class 1 but yeah” you say as you turn to face your own console and staring at the mess of knobs and dials in front of you. You wanted to fly the ship yourself, so you had already used your god powers to give yourself knowledge on how to fly it.
“So, you got the coordinates for that place we’re going to?” Tanna asked, turning her chair to face you.
“Yup, and we have clearance to do so no reason to stick around here” you replied, turning to look at Tanna.
“Let’s do it then” she said and you turned back to your console, closing the boarding ramp, activating the main engines and lifting off. Turns out flying was easier than you were expecting, given the control surface. It was easy enough to plot courses, for instance, taking off, you punched in a list of points that would take you into a flight lane which would, in turn, take you to an access point and then up and out into space. It was mostly automated, with the computer doing most of the work, but you did have to punch in where you wanted the ship to go. Hyperspace travel was rather simple, all you had to do was plot the coordinates of where you wanted to go. Unfortunately, your ship didn’t have a computer that would automatically grab the best hyperspace routes, so you’d have to pick them yourself. Fortunately, you had already thought of that and prepared the destination ahead of time. You reminded yourself to fix that at some point, or to get a droid. It was far too annoying to have to reprogram the nav-computer every time you want to go somewhere.
“Well, with a Class 2 hyperdrive and the somewhat roundabout way we have to take to get to our destination, we should be there in about two days” You tell Tanna.
“Kriff” Tanna replied
“Something the matter with that?” You ask with a frown on her face.
“I just walked on and we left the planet” she said, much to your confusion.
“Yes, that is indeed what happened.” you answered
“I DIDN’T PACK ANYTHING!!!” Tanna shouted.
