Empathize Your Heart Out!

You quickly put on your pants back on and head over to her. Melody hears your footsteps and presses her hands to her face harder. "No! Don't look at me!" She cries out, turning away. "I'm so fucking embarassed."

"Hey! It's no big deal! Really!" You say with a shrug.

"Right. You probably think I'm disgusting now!" She wails into her hands.

"What? No!" You say quickly. "Of course not! Why would you even..."

"What kind of friend stares at your ass? I'm so pathetic!"

"I've stared at your ass before!" You blurt out. Melody stops crying, which is a good thing. She is now looking at you out of the corner of her eyes, which is probably a bad thing. "I mean, I'll sometimes catch myself looking at your bottom while you walk."

"While I walk?" She asks.

"Yeah, you kinda have this sway when you walk that...you know, that's not what's important right now. The point is, stuff like that happens without thinking about it. It's doesn't mean anything. It's just hormonal lapses in judgement."

"Hormonal lapses?" She asks. Her voice is getting a little stronger now and she's lowering her hands to her sides.

"We're human, Melody. It happens. For instance, if you were to whip your bathing suit top off and flash your breasts at me, friend or not, I'm going to stare for at least 13 seconds." You hear her giggle softly. "I'm a male and you're a female. We can't completely shut off our sex drives just because we're friends."

"I suppose not." She sighs. "But I still shouldn't have turned around while you were changing. That was kinda shameless of me."

"Hey, it's not like I haven't sneaked a peek at you while you were changing before." You say easily. Melody quickly pivots to face you and you suddenly realize that that was too much honesty too soon.

"You WHAT?!" She exclaims furiously.

"Did I say 'sneak a peek while you were changing'? I meant 'respect your mind and personality as an independent woman'." You grin goofily, hoping for your natural dopey charisma to work things out. Melody just stares at you for a while, then the ire drains from her face and she exhales sharply. Then she begins to laugh weakly.

"I suppose it would be hypocrisy for me to yell at you." She said, running a hand through her hair. She let out a deep sigh and stares into your eyes. "Well, as long as we're being honest here, this isn't the first time I've peeked at you either."

"What? Really?" You ask, your eyebrows shooting upward. Melody blushes slightly and tucks some loose strands of hair behind her ear.

"I may have peeked through a bathroom door once or twice while you were getting out of the shower." You cough in surprise and she hides her face shyly. Peeking on you in the shower. Holy shit. Did your bathing suit just get tighter? Melody avoids looking at you at first, then eventually meets your gaze. Her cheeks are still stained crimson. "Like you said, I'm a girl and I do give into hormonal lapses from time to time." Her gaze suddenly turns mischievious. "All right. Your turn. When have you peeked at me?"

"Shouldn't we be going swimming now?" You ask, hoping to change the coversation. Melody gives you a shove in the chest and you go stumbling backwards.

"Nuh-uh. Not yet." She says seriously. "I want answers first." She gives you another shove and you fall back onto her bed with a slight bounce. You sit up quickly, but your friend is on the offensive again. She pushes you down and cralws on top of you, pinning you down to the bed. You struggle a bit, but she holds you fast. You could get away if you really wanted, but you know she's serious about this. Besides, where would you go? "When have you peeked at me, Jack?"

"Uhhhh...." You begin.
