Stick with Robyn or check up on Emma?

Emma and Steve.

Steve walked up to the bar and ordered two beers, and he gave the first to Emma.

Emma took the drink and said thanks. She looked out over the crowd and saw Robyn talking to Aaron. Emma shook her head. As usual, Robyn looked nervous and awkward.

Steve followed her gaze and said, “I don’t know. Leaving Aaron alone with your friend… he’s not the best when it come to dealing with the ladies.”

Emma turned to him and said, “Oh, and I suppose you are?”

He smiled, “Well, I’ve never heard anyone complain.”

“Maybe you just weren’t listening.”

“Hey, I have devoted a great deal of time to the study of the fairer sex.”

“Have you learned anything interesting?”

“If you’re lucky, I may show you one or two things.”

Emma said dryly, “It’s a bad idea to think of the end of a race before you’re even out of the starting gate.”

A look of admiration came over Steve’s face, “You’re not one to mince words or hold anything back, are you?”

Emma set her drink on the bar. “I’ve noticed that when talking to men, it’s best not to be subtle. Guys tend to hear what they want to hear unless you spell it out for them.” She looked at Steve out of the corner of her eye. The opening act of the night suddenly started in on their first song.

The two listened for a while and Emma said, “Wow, these guys suck.”

Steve nodded his head, “Yeah.” He bowed his head and offered her his hand. “Would the lady care to dance?”

Emma looked surprised, “What? To this?” She pondered the thought for a second, then smiled and said, “Why not?”

Together the two headed out onto the main floor of the club. There were a few people standing and watching the band play, but no one was moving. Steve began to do the monkey, his hands running up and over his head and his T-shirt pulling up so that Emma could see the bottom of his washboard abs. Emma laughed and stared to do the twist, her shapely hips swaying back and forth seductively.

Unable to find any rhythm to what the band was playing, the two soon fell into sync and danced to their own beat. The people around were smiling and giving them looks, but they didn’t care. Emma noticed Robyn and Aaron go outside and pointed her head in their direction. Steve followed her eyes and looked over his shoulder and smiled. He turned back to Emma and winked. They continued to dance against the flow the music.

After about five terrible songs, others started to join in dancing. Soon about thirty people were hopping and moving to their own rhythms. Steve pointed back to the bar and Emma nodded. They left the floor and leaned up against the bar laughing.

“That was fun!” Emma said.

What next?
