Elise strips down to cross the pit

On the one hand, it was very much not appropriate for a paladin of Etherial to be taking her clothes off in a dungeon. The goddess of female dignity frowned on that sort of thing.

On the other hand, it would only be for a moment. And nobody was around to see. It wasn't like the dungeon-maker was hanging around, invisible, to watch her every move, or anything like that.

Swiftly, not giving herself time to think, she shucked off her chainmail shirt and the linen undershirt beneath it. The breeches followed, leaving her in just her leather boots and the glossy silk underthings she'd bought herself from the drow lingerie boutique as a special present for being such a good and respectable paladin all year. They were darkest black, and gleamed in the torchlight. She'd be absolutely mortified if anyone knew she was running around in such sexy underwear all day long, but luckily that wasn't going to happen.

Taking a deep breath, she stepped out onto the first plank of the bridge. A cool breeze rose from the bottom of the pit, raising goosebumps on her skin and making the bridge sway alarmingly. She didn't want to be here any longer than she had to be. She crossed the pit as quickly as she could, snatched the golden key from its pedestal and turned around to cross back.

Her clothes were hovering in the air.

There was a pixie at either end of her breeches, playing tug-of-war. As Elise watched in horror her only pair of pants was jerked this way, then that way, before suddenly being torn in half.

"Hey!" she shouted. "Get away from that! That's my... that's mine!"

The pixies stopped. They took one look at Elise, and each one flittered off in a different direction, taking its half of the pants with it. They vanished into holes on opposite sides of the room, leaving only the trio of pixies who were currently arguing over Elise's chainmail shirt.

Elise's mouth dropped open in horror. Those were her pants! Her only pants! Sword raised, she charged back across the rope bridge towards the shirt, heedless of the danger. As she leaped off it, the last plank snapped and the whole rope bridge came crashing down behind her into the pit below. Heedless of the calamity she'd just avoided, Elise made a grab for her chainmail shirt, which was being held in the air just out of her reach.

"Give that back right now!" she yelled. "I mean it!"

A pixie poked its tongue out at her. The chainmail shirt began to move, very slowly, towards the pit.

Elise made a jump for it. Her fingertips only just grazed it. She jumped again, and became keenly aware of exactly how embarrassing it felt to be stranded in a dungeon in your underwear and made to jump for your clothes.

"Um," she said. "I mean, can I have that back, pretty please? Would you be so very kind?"

The pixies almost seemed to consider it for a moment. Then an unexpected gust of wind knocked the chainmail shirt out of their tiny hands, sending it tumbling into the pit. Elise made a final, **** attempt to catch it, but she was too late. Her face fell as she watched it tumble down, down into the darkness.

When she looked up, the pixies were all gone.

She looked down at herself. She was now stuck doing the rest of the dungeon in nothing but her boots and her sexy elven lingerie.

This had never happened to her before.

Somehow, she didn't think Etherial would be happy.
