How bad is the hangover?

Easy as Pi

Chapter 40 by GivenUpOnTrying GivenUpOnTrying

"Oh, she lives." Rouge announces sarcastically as I enter the kitchen. I'd woken up feeling like death, but once I'd drank my weight in water it felt a lot better... Or at least more bloated. Elise was still snoring away, so I decided to investigate downstairs. Trish is still here, wearing the clothes from last night, Rouge seems to have had the sense to change. I woke up still in my dress, so I changed into some leisurewear before coming down.

"Where is everyone?" I ask. "They get home okay?"

Rouge sips her water before responding. "Gabe and Henry gave Anya and Kara a lift home, benefits of him not drinking." She explains. Huh, I didn't notice that. "Rob and Skye crashed on the sofa, haven't bothered waking them yet." She adds.

"But enough about that! How much do you remember from last night?" Trish demands with an evil grin. Oh no.

"Erm... I remember you kissing Kara... Stuff after that gets fuzzy." I admit. "Why?" Please tell me I didn't do anything too embarrassing. It's like my third time drinking, I didn't realise it could get so intense. Trish's smirk widens with a low chuckle.

"Well, you told Skye to stay away from your girl... While she wasn't in the room. You volunteered to go and get a pig when Rouge said 'When pigs fly.' You told Henry he'll meet a nicer girl one day, I guess you'd forgotten the gay part at that point. And then you passed out until we took you to bed." Trish lists my indiscretions. Well, that settles it. I'm going to live in the forest. "Honestly, that last one was probably the cutest." She adds. What? How would that one be as bad as the others.

My sister spends no effort to try not to rub it in. "Where's Elise? I love Elise! She is better than socks! I missed you Moon!" She quotes me in an overly dramatic tone. Well... That's less than ideal. Thankfully I was already picking out which tree I was going to live in, so no need to do it again. Just now need to jump out of the tree, straight onto my stupid fucking skull.

"So, I know she calls you something in French, why is she Moon?" Trish asks nosily. Yeah, like I'm going to make it worse. "Oh, and you might've blabbed on the threesome to Rouge."

"Once again. I don't care." She waves the comment off. "More importantly, when did you start dropping L-bombs? I was not brought up to speed on this." My sister adds accusingly. It was... Wait... When did I start saying that? Was it during the party? I remember thinking it, but I can't remember when it started.

"I... I don't know... We haven't actually said it to each other yet." I admit, to the others' confused expressions. "Wait, please don't tell me the first time I told her was while I was drunk?" I'm gonna need a tall tree.

Trish raises her hand to halt my train of thought. "No chance, she was zonked out too by that point." She reassures me. "Still, you were saying it a lot, sounds like someone's got bit with the bug. Hard." She adds with a sideways glance, hiding her smug smile.

"Oh, just get it over with. You two are like something out of a telenovela, so many feelings, so little talking... Or too much talking." Rouge sighs. I open my mouth to respond before immediately getting cut off "But it's not that easy, how do I know she feels the same, it's so early, bla, bla, bla. Allow me to squash this early. Yes it is that easy. I love you. It's literally that simple. You know she feels the same because for fuck's sake, have you seen you two? you're the definition of love's young dream. And yes, it's early, but you literally had sex on the first date, rushing in is kind of the definition of your relationship." My sister rants.

I'm a little offended by how good her points are.

"I'll make it easier, Skye and Rob need a lift home, I'm gonna take them, so no threesome today, or any day, until you two have said the L word." Trish announces with a mix of smugness and glee. She exists the room and I hear her disturbing the rock stars in the other room.

I sit at the table with Rouge. "So, did I miss anything else last night?" I ask. She snorts violently, before trying to regain her composure.

"Oh, you have a lot to catch up on, I'll tell you later, don't worry though, no one won your little bet yet." She chuckles. Pretty sure she said something similar after Elise's party... I I'll come back to that. "Let me guess, you want advice?" Rouge deduces.

I mean, not if you're gonna rub it in.

"Nah, think I'm gonna wing it. Let's be honest, overthinking doesn't usually do me any favours." I decide. "What about you? Anything fun happen?" It feels odd asking about Rouge's love life for once. Still, it's nice to get the spotlight off me for a few minutes.

"Well... Rob asked me out." She reveals. I'm sorry, what? When did this happen? "And I kind of said yes... For some reason."

Alright, she was mad I hadn't told her about the love thing yet, and she's keeping this from me, I'd say we're square. "So... You actually like him?" I try to confirm. Last I heard she was apathetic, or at best gonna bang him, now there's a date? I didn't see these developments coming.

"No. He's an annoying twat. I don't know why I agreed, my mouth wasn't listening to me." She tries to clarify. Sure Rouge, you're well known for never knowing what you're doing.

"Uh huh... So, you weren't hoping to kiss him during spin the bottle?" I inquire. Aah, the death stare, it's been a while. I'd forgotten how it felt to be this terrified.

"Yeah, well, I ended up making out with his sister like 3 times before him." She states with an aggravated tone. "Thanks for your help there." She adds.

I try not to laugh as I remember my judgements from last night. "Yeah... Sorry." I manage to get out before a smile forces it's way out.

Trish returns with the tired looking siblings not far behind. "I'm gonna shoot off, these two are like ten minutes away from redecorating your floor a very disgusting colour. I'll see you at school tomorrow." She declares, Rob and Skye also give their farewells, though they look and sound more like zombies right now. Rob does his best to give Rouge a smile, it's almost charming, bless him. Skye looks worse off, until Trish puts her arm around her...

As the others make their exit I consider what I witnessed. "Looks like if that threesome is gonna happen it'll need to be soon." I joke, Rouge looks confused at my insinuation.

"What, because of pixie girl? You know Trish, she's commitment-phobic, there's no chance they get together." She points out. I guess, but I'd have said there's no chance her and you sleep together either.

"If you say so. But... Has she ever put her arm around you?" I ask. Rouge's face becomes less certain. I'll take that as a no.

"I never wanted her to, bad example." She finally counters. Whatever you say little sister. "Anyway, you're delaying, go upstairs and have your talk already." Damn it, she's giving me the stare again, I don't get a choice in this one.

I sigh and stand up, making my way back upstairs and into my room... She's not here. Why is she not here? "Elise?" I ask loudly.

"One sec!" I hear from the bathroom. I guess after so much drinking the call of nature is inevitable... Or she's vomiting. It's revealed to be neither as she exits the bathroom, wrapped in a towel, her wet hair swept back out of her face. She looks so different to last night. And somehow still absolutely stunning. "Sorry, I helped myself to a shower, I feel so good this morning, it's strange." I mean, you did sleep for about 12 hours. That'll cure about anything.

"Yeah... Do you remember much from last night?" I ask tentatively as she walks past me towards her bag of clothes.

She ruffles her brow trying to recall the previous evening. "Bits and pieces, why?"

Sure sounds like she didn't hear my confession. Not sure if it's a good thing or a bad thing. "Well, I... I said something last night, and I wanted to make sure you were okay." I try to explain. Words are definitely coming out of my mouth, but it sure doesn't feel like I have control over them. Maybe this is how Rouge felt when Rob asked her out.

Elise's face lands on a realisation as she moves closer to me. "Oh, Lapin..." She coos as she brushes my cheek with her hand. So she does remember? "If you're having second thoughts about Trish, it's okay. I'm not going to make you do anything you don't want to." Nope. not quite. "I think it'll be fun, but it's only fun if you're on board." Yeah, sex, great fun, big fan, it's been about a hundred hours, but that's not what I mean. "We can just talk to her and tell her that we've changed our minds, I'm sure she'll-"

"I love you." I blurt out. Holy shit. I did it. It's like coming out all over again. "I'm... I'm in love with you." I repeat. Her face looks shell-shocked, please tell me I didn't ruin everything. "Is that... Okay?" I ask.

Please tell me it's okay.

Tell me we're okay.

Please.

Tell me you love me too.
