During (Joffrey is the King)

The year is 299 A.C. Currently, the noble houses of Westeros are at war. The war began only recently after the **** of King Robert Baratheon, but it has already spread throughout the entire realm. It is being called the war of the Five Kings. Those five kings are Robb Stark (for the North and Riverlands), Balon Greyjoy (for the Iron Islands), Renly Baratheon (for the Reach and part of the Stormlands), Stannis Baratheon (for the rest of the Stormlands and part of the Crownlands), and Joffrey Bartaheon (for the rest of the Crownlands and the Westerlands). At present, the Vale and Dorne are the only two of the nine regions that are neutral or have not declared for anyone yet.

Since you headed south, you can only choose between three of those nine places.

Dorne would likely be the safest, given Prince Doran Martell's reputation for avoiding conflict and relying more on patience, reasoning and sound judgment. Plus, Dornish women are renowned for their beauty.

The Stormlands would be a little riskier, given the conflicting loyalties of its nobles. Still, you would be able to see firsthand what both of the remaining Baratheon brothers were up to, and after a while, you could decide if you would throw in with either of them.

However, in terms of popularity and strength, Renly seems to have the greatest odds of triumphing over the other kings. With that in mind, you suppose your best opportunities to find work (and a caring motherly figure) would lie with following the late King Robert's youngest brother. At present, Renly is in the Reach with the whole of his forces.
