Chapter 5
by Tumulus-Hedge
What's next?
Dungeon Crawling then Wenchdom
Nermeria suited up for the day, dressing in her usual garb as she prepared to scavenge one the dungeons she'd discovered from pilfering her neighborhoods residents. Fully dressed, she awaited for the three maids to arrive, reading one of the skill books she'd acquired yesterday, eager to learn its contents. Thankfully enough, she finished it before the maids arrived. Her GUI displayed the new achievement.
Perk Acquired!:
Teachings of a Master Thief (Lvl. 1) - You've read the first volume in the multivolume series by the Grey Reynard, learning some of his teachings. Plus 10 points to your base sneak abilities, alongside learning the ability to blend in with a crowd better.
Perk Advanced!:
Crowd Blending (Lvl. 3) --> Crowd Blending (Lvl. 4)
Description: You're near a master of disguise and having a forgettable face. If one didn't know better, they'd wonder if you even exist at all. Still, the overly observant might recognize you on a rare occurrence.
Skill Level Increased! - Sneak 72 of 100
A knock at her door awoke Nermeria from her thoughts. The moment of truth. Would the maids recognize her and who she was? Opening the door, she held her breath, expecting a call out, perhaps being asked why she was out of uniform. Nothing. They took her copper like any other player and proceeded.
Fantastic. Amazing, even. The NPCs were too stupid to know her by face, which meant she could seamlessly switch between her 'Rose' persona and her Rogue self.
As she rode the open plains towards the dungeon, Nermeria smiled and laughed, enjoying the wind on her face and the fact that she seemed to have discovered a way to be a true thief in the game. The smiles stopped as she approached a dungeon, eager to watch and observe the local area. Playing solo meant playing more seriously when the moment demanded it.
The moment did demand it. She nearly got jumped by a nest of spiders at the front of the dungeon, but thankfully, her sneak won her the day, meaning she got to jump them. Passing their corpses', she looted some venom, and proceeded on her way, moving rock to rock. Whatever was in here better have been worth the sore ass she got...
It was. Past a Queen spider, who's obvious weakness was fire, a large gilded chest sat in the open, pouring out loot as she opened it. The dungeon was obviously for a party of 3 or me, seeing as the queen spider tried summoning allies, but being adept at magic allowed one to cheese things now and then. Collecting the loot which poured forth on the ground, Nermeria felt something....off. Like she was missing loot.
A quick search of the area proved her hunch correct. A small alcove hidden by spider existed in the area, and Nermeria quickly burned through the webs for her treasure. Crawling through the hole in the alcove, Nermeria thanked her lucky stars her character's body with lithe and petite, lest she get stuck in the rocks. Eventually, the passage became wider and wider, until she stood confidently. A rock wall faced her, looking like a dead end. Feeling the wall, she noticed a small button masquerading as a rock, and pressing it, it revealed a small treasure room.
Hmphm. Tricky developers trying to hide the best loot. Not from her. A _ding on her _wrist made her check her GUI briefly.
Skill Check - Passed! Having an intelligence of 7 points or higher enabled you to find the hidden device.
Forgetting the notification, Nermeria examined the treasure room and its contents. Pouches of gold coins, some looking rusted, others looking pristine. On an altar resided a golden hairclip, alongside a pair of bronze bracelets. Interested in what the items could be, Nermeria read their description.
Hairclip of Charisma (Unique) - A golden hairclip from an old noble or princess, to anyone observing you, it represents quality and class. Increase of 1.5 to base Charisma stat when worn properly.
Currently Lvl. 1 of ??
Dual Bronze Bracelets of Nimbleness (Unique) - Bronze bracelets for both your left and right, these help in the area involving one's hands. Any skill check involving one's hands is lowered by 12.5 points.
Currently Lvl. 1 of ??
How strong the hairclip was didn't hit Nermeria until she got back to her home and placed down all her treasures. Charisma was not a skill to be upgraded like any other, it was a base stat, meaning leveling it up was hard as hell. For someone who needed a silver tongue, the Hairclip was a godsend!
Realizing the dungeon had only taken her until mid-day, Nermeria took a walk around the city with her loot, changing her class to 'Mage' temporarily. Heading into the nearby General Store, she began to unload all the useless equipment from the raid. Shields, batons, heavy chest plates, whatever other junk her inventory could hold. Realizing how heavy her purse had grown, Nermeria moved onto her second plan for the day, acquiring some clothes to better hide as a NPC.
"Sorry miss, we don't sell those clothes to adventurers. Residents only." The old man at the counter repeated robotically for the 3rd time. Nermeria was annoyed. Sure, she'd never tried to buy the equipment before, but she figured buying a common dress and slacks would be simple.
Frustrated with the old man's obstinacy, she went back to her place and quickly changed into her maid uniform and 'became' Rosy Richardson so that she could purchase the clothes. The old man was much more willing, taking her coppers eagerly as she purchased a few dresses, shoes, and other equipment to look the part of a NPC.
Carrying the heavy bags back to her place, Nermeria stumbled a bit and nearly fell when an adventurer rushed beside her without a care in the world. Damnit. Stupid idiots not watching where they are going. A hand on her ass prevented her fall, and a familiar voice spoke up.
"Miss Rose, how often we meet!" The guard from yesterday said to her, helping her to stand up straight (but not removing his hand on rear).
"Uhm. Thank you, kind sir." She replied, eager to flee and be back home, plotting her next actions.
"Might I take you to lunch Miss Rose?" The man asked, contemplating his next words. "My treat, of course."
Internally, Nermeria rolled her eyes at the thought some developer had to write this dialogue. What was this, the plot of a romance novel? Not finding a way to refuse, she tried her best.
"It's a bit late for lunch my good sir...." She muttered.
"Then an early dinner! I have just the place!" He said, not seeming to take no for an answer. Nermeria realized having a friendly NPC on the guard **** might be helpful, and went along with the man. They chattered about quite mundane things, and Nermeria realized the man's conversations were limited up to a point. He had taken her bags for her, making it impossible for her to flee as easily as she would've liked.
The wooden chair was as comfortable as one would imagine it would be, and Nermeria sat in it, realizing she was hungry. Devouring some offered soup, she conversed further with the guard and mistakenly mentioned she was hoping to get out of being a maid. It was an innocent suggestion, but the man ran with it.
"I have just the job then! Gaul who runs this bar needs a new tavern wench! I'm sure he'd love ya dearie!" The man said, his 4th mug of beer seeming to fill him with confidence.
Nermeria tried her best, but she was unable to resist going up with the guard to meet the owner. He still had her damn bags.....Gaul, the owner, was a poorly modeled character hidden in a backroom who seemed barely programmed. The guard acted as if everything were normal and let her alone with the man, taking her purchases with him.
"Tavern wench......work nights....like....tonight...fine...with....you?" The man's character model stuttered out as Nermeria nodded her head. Obviously, she was in an area of the game she was not supposed to be in. The broken character smiled and handed her a baggie of clothing, disappearing right after. Opening the clothes, Nermeria let out a loud laugh at the clothes in front of her, looking like the mix of a Halloween costume and a teenage boy's fantasy. Trying them on to get out of the maid's clothes, she giggled at the new pop-ups on her GUI.

Item Progressed:
Belly Piercing of Masking - Lvl. 2 of ??, experience of 76 gained for (using in interactions and extending roles). 145 experience more to level up!
Nermeria laughed at the situation, nearly ready to turn her belly piercing so that she could get out of this mess. Without a doubt, the Wench Uniform was made by some pervert, seeing as how deeply the bosom line plunged, and how short the skirt was. The door opening and showing the now familiar guard startled the girl a bit.
"What's taking ya so long Rosy? All the customers are waiting on their beers!" He said, taking her hand and pulling her forward from the room and back to the now crowded tavern.
Unable to tell the man off, Rose found herself thrust into the role of serving food and **** to adventurers and NPCs alike, worrying someone might notice her all the while. Thankfully, the night was more then easy, taking most of her attention on making sure she grabbed the right beer or entrée for a table. Walking away from the beyond drunk guards table, she felt his hand grope her ass and she froze.
Taking a deep breath, she stopped herself from slapping the man. Play it cool. No one knows who you are or how strong you are. Her refusal to slap the man seemed to embolden the man, and his buddies, meaning she became more flustered as several of them began to tease her and grope them all the same. Those things made her start to mess up orders, which made Gaul call her to his office and verbally scold her.
The end of the night meant many closing their tabs, and to Nermeria's mortification, several tips down the front of her shirt. Steeling herself, she cleaned off the tables and prepared to leave. The guard who got her into all this mess waited outside, red-faced and stumbling.
"Lemme walk ya home girlie. Keep ya safe from all the bad men in the world." He said, and Nermeria couldn't find it in her to protest beyond a few words. He followed her home, handing off her bags.
Very suddenly, he pulled her into a deep, passionate, drunk kiss which took away her breath. Unable to stop him, she felt his hands knead her ass. Not even bothering to say bye, the guard stumbled off into the night afterwards, promising to see her again.
Nermeria was just happy to lay on her bed, but did check all the dings which had come from her GUI. She groaned at what she saw.
Nickname Gained!:
Nicknames currently: 'Rosey-Red-Bottom', known by: 1 person.
'Rosey', known by: 11 people.
Reputation Changed!:
Reputation(s) for - Asburn:
Empty-Headed (Lvl. 2). Description- Through your actions, you've acquired a minor but existing reputation for being on the less bright side. This allows you to seem more approachable, yet opens you up to be targeted by more unscrupulous persons. (Increased due to continued errors in Wench minigame)
Push-Over (Lvl. 1). Description- Through your actions, you've acquired a minor reputation amongst the population for being known as weak-willed and not the best at standing up for yourself. This makes you more likely to be seen as 'innocent' in cases of questionable guilt, but also makes you more likely to be taken advantage of. (Given due to failure to address groping in wench minigame)
Stripping herself of the wenches outfit, she stopped and looked in the mirror of her room. Smiling at the reflection, she flexed her muscles a bit and stared at the assorted gains from yesterday and today. Even if she had to put up with stupid robots sometimes, she was still getting ahead. And she'd keep it up too.
Her dreams were of the player homes she'd seen online, vast estates filled to the brim with all the good things of life. They'd come, soon enough.

Cursed Loot & Game Mechanics Compilation
Adventuring gone wrong
This interactive story will be a compilation of 'Cursed Loot' Stories, which is a fetish whereby loot, armor, weapons, game mechanics trap the user. Whether it is a locked on chastity belt, a cursed sword, or a game mechanic that goes wrong, this story is focused on that variety of stories. Unwilling or willing, both are fine. I will be adding my own storylines and will edit the main page to including a synopsis of each as I go.
