Without pause, Jenny sends out her pokemon, a Growlithe. Ah! As expected of a law enforcement officer, she takes the initiative and shows that she’s the one in control. You should do the same. Let’s see… Onix might not be such a safe pokemon to send out on top of a bridge. And Mankey, well… his behavior isn’t fitting of an officer like yourself. The most sensible choice would probably be… Dugtrio!

“No manners from the girls in blue, huh? Well, my name’s Max, just in case you feel like screaming it later. Squirtle, go!” A small turtle with blue skin and sunglasses emerges onto the road.

“Huh?” You look at him with confusion. “Why is he wearing sunglasses?”

“Cuz he’s a badass, that’s why! Way too much for you dainty girls to handle.”

“Squirtle Squirt.”

“He looks like a delinquent…” you note. “Wait, that’s it! An outlaw like you has no place taking care of a pokemon. We’ll have to arrest your Squirtle as well, so we can rehabilitate him and make him a good, law-abiding pokemon!”

Officer Jenny starts, “Uh, Emilia? We actually can’t arrest-”

She’s interrupted, though, as a huge, watery tornado appears in the middle of the road! Dugtrio and Growlithe get sucked in, spinning around over and over until the sudden whirlwind subsides. Both pokemon end up back on your side of the impromptu field, dizzy and reeling from the sudden attack. Typical scum, playing dirty.

“Dugtrio, use Sand Attack!” Unfortunately, your pokemon is still recovering from the attack. Isn’t Water super-effective against Ground-types? Shoot… Fortunately, Jenny’s Growlithe is able to launch a counterattack.

“Growlithe, Ember!”

“Fire, huh? Squirtle, use Rain Dance!”

As a ball of fire launches from Growlithe’s mouth, an isolated rain cloud appears between you and the bikers. Rain begins falling, and it suddenly feels really humid and icky. By the time the fireball reaches Squirtle, it’s nothing but a cinder, barely causing its target to wince.

“Now Squirtle, Water Gun!”

“Growlithe, dodge!”

Quick on its feet, Growlithe is able to dodge the attack. Now’s your chance!

“Dugtrio, use Magnitu-”

“Emilia, no!” Jenny shouts. “You’ll hit Growlithe too!”

Crap! You didn’t think about that. Growlithe is weak to Ground attacks, so that would be a problem.

“Uh, Dugtrio, use Slash!”

Dugtrio rushes in at Squirtle to land the attack, but your hesitation gives your opponent plenty of time to shift its focus.

“Block it with Water Gun, Squirtle!”

Before Dugtrio can reach its target, a blast of water hits it, ending its attempted attack. Jenny tries to follow up with another Ember, but it again fizzles out before hitting Squirtle. Ugh, this isn’t working! You look at Jenny, and you both exchange nods.

“Dugtrio, Slash!”

“Growlithe, Tackle!”

There! He can’t suppress both your pokemon at the same time! However, as both your pokemon are rushing in, Max starts grinning slyly.

“Squirtle, Water Spout!”

Again!?

This time, Dugtrio and Growlithe are both right in the center of the tornado when it opens up. They get pulled deep into the eye, and once the water has cleared, both of them are knocked out.

“Looks like that’s a wrap. Take ‘em away boys.”

In the heat of the battle, you didn’t even notice the rest of the bikers surrounding you and Jenny. As they escort you back to their motorcycles, you ask, “O-Officer Jenny? Shouldn’t we call for backup?”

“Emilia, you ARE my backup…” she says regretfully.
