Ultimately Sara, Sofía, and Christine decided that having all three of them buy dessert would be excessive so they agreed to buy the groceries needed for you to cook for their share of the potluck while Sofía offers to cook one of her mother's dishes.

"That's a lot of work for me!" you complain.

"We'll still have dessert!" Sara winks at you with a giggle, knowing the ignorance of your neighbor and co-worker of the inside joke.

You sigh and ask them what they would like for you to make so you can buy the ingredients. Luckily, they suggest simple dishes that do not require much time or effort to make.

The five of you chitchat on the way back to your apartment building and you find out tidbits about your neighbors and co-worker.

"Three months ago I broke up with my boyfriend of two years," Sofía casually mentions when the topic of relationships is brought up.

"I'm so sorry to hear that!" Lisa comforts, patting her hand on her neighbor's lap.

"That's okay, I have a new boyfriend and he runs on AA batteries!" the Latina giggles.
