Driving, talking, dildo shopping with Julie

"Locally? I don't know," Julie says. "I got mine on a trip to San Francisco."

"What did your husband think?" you ask Julie.

"Oh, he knows," Julie says. "He had me model it for him. And he wanted to know everything about me and Cara."

You nod at each other. "Maggie," you both say.

You add, "She saved both our jobs. Though I'm still deciding which transfer to take. Birthing Center, nursing interns, or the outreach bus."

"If you choose the intern program, we'll be working together," Julie says.

"There is that," you say. "Do you think we can keep each other honest?"

"Wellll," Julie says. "My record isn't great on that. But I can promise that I'll let you make the first move."

"Thanks, I think," you tell her. You turn your attention back to the road as the grade steepens, going back down into town.

Once the road straightens out, you say, "Well, do you have a notion who might know about where to get a harness and dildo?"

"The gals in the Birthing Center either got theirs mail-order, or in New York or San Francisco," Julie says. "But things might have improved. Hmm. Maybe the Gay and Lesbian Resource Center on campus?"

Once you have a steady cell signal, you pull over at the edge of town and look up the number. You get an answering machine message with hours and crisis emergency numbers.

"See you in two weeks," you read from the sign on the door. "I suppose it's mail order then."

"Could you have it shipped to your place?" Julie asks. "I mean, Sarah isn't really a girlfriend like Cara."

"Or me?" you say.

Julie takes a deep breath. "Or you."
