Dreams and breakfast

Sarah looked into Jill's beautiful eyes with the blinking lights from the Christmas tree, swimming in them and herself lost in them as well.

"I got you a very special present, Sarah." Jill said as she pulled a small box from under the tree and handed it to Sarah. She carefully unwrapped the paper and opened the small box to see..... pancakes?

"Breakfast, Sarah." Jill said with a smile. "What?" Sarah asked confused.

"I said breakfast, Sarah. I made your favorite pancakes!" Her mother called. Oh, of course. Sarah had just been dreaming again.

She walked downstairs and almost immediately gave Jill a friendly looking hug. "You girls sure have become close friends in such a short time." Her mother said as she handed Sarah a plate of pancakes with a face of strawberries and whipped cream. "Thank you, mama." Sarah said and gave her mother a kiss on the cheek.

"And this plate is for you," Leslie said giving Jill a plate of plain pancakes and syrup. "I'm not sure how you like your pancakes, so you're welcome to add to it."

"Oh no, this is fine thank you ma'am." Jill said. "Wait, I'm sorry. I've heard women up north don't like being called 'ma'am'." Jill apologized immediately.

Leslie chuckled. "Oh, I don't mind at all. And you're very welcome."
