John: No, thats ok. I don't want you to be punished on my behalf.

Angel: Master is kind.

John: Master? What is that?

Angel: Master is you. You are the one that i serve.

John: What does it mean?

Angel: it means the one i must obey. the one i am devoted to above all others, the one i would give my life for, were it still mine to give. Master is great, this one is less than Master.

John: Less than me? No, you aren't. If thats what being called master means, i don't want to be called that.

Angel: forgive me. what do you wish to be called?

John: Just John is fine.

Angel: John-sama, then. and what would you call this one?

John: This one? Yourself?

Angel: yes.

John: What was your name when you were alive?

Angel: Doe.

John: Then, Doe, of course. If thats your name, what else would i call you?

Doe: John is kind to me. i appreciate it.

John: Why would i be unkind to you?

Doe: i am only a servant, and not used to such treatment. i believed you would treat this one the same as my former master. forgive my presumptuousness.

John: A servant? For who?

Doe: the Lord and Ladies of my home village. they have been my masters since i was a child. i was to marry their son, but he was cruel. i knew my masters would be upset with me, but i could not give him my life. and so he stole it.

John: You mean he killed you?!

Doe: yes. oh! please forgive this one for speaking something about which she was not asked.

John: Doe, please. If your masters in life would have had you marry someone you disliked, i would rather you not treat me as you did them.

Doe looks up from her deep bow, a slight crimson in her face as her heart, or what angels have instead of them, accelerates. She swallows and smiles very slightly.
