Chapter 37 by hewhoismany hewhoismany

What does Bathilda do in her time before the term starts?

Does her best to fit into her new life as ‘Bathilda’.

The chance to effectively spend the entire summer at Hogwarts was quite the treat...or at least it would have been to Harry. After all, the only other option for Harry Potter was to spend the holiday with his abusive relatives. But right now she was Bathilda, and as much as Hogwarts was an interesting place, she found herself wanting to be around more people her own age. Still, she did her best to make do.

First on the list was getting used to the Slytherin common room, which was quite the task. After all, it was in the basement of the school, and far too dark and damp for Bathilda’s taste. Secondly, she wanted to get a good handle on who this new her was, but Dumbledore’s spell had made that quite simple. Doing her hair and make-up was a rote exercise, and she it was easier to live in her personality than it was to break out of it.

Thirdly and lastly, she did want to do some studying up. After all, after this whole Bathilda thing was over she was still going to need to defeat Lord Voldemort, and anything she could learn about how to better do that, the better for her. By the time the term was going to start, Bathilda was amazed at how much progress she had made. As Harry, she had always struggled with Potions and Transfiguration, but now both subjects were coming quite easily to her, and she was able to make up for years of struggle in just a few months of study. Though she was neglecting her Defence Against the Dark Arts skills just a little, she did her best not to focus on that and prepare for other students finally getting there.

How does the first week of term go?

More fun
