Distrust: Keep Your Distance

Taking your hands off hers and stepping back slightly, you adopt a defensive tone and mindfully attempt to cover your naked form. “Sorry Minerva, but my experiences here have left me guarded. If you aren’t willing to help me, how can I trust you?”

She looks hurt by your rejection, but nods understandingly. “I get it. You’ve gotta look out for yourself. I must look monstrous to you, huh? Just like the others.”

You furrow your brow, cocking your head slightly at the misunderstanding. “Monstrous? No, I--”

She drops her hands to her sides and bows slightly towards you. “I’m sorry for taking up your time…and that I cannot help you."

As she turns to make her way down the hallway, you marvel at the disastrous turn that conversation took. You have every reason to be skeptical of that girl’s intentions, but you hardly meant to hurt her feelings.

You walk to the back wall of the cell and sit contemplatively. It's entirely possible that what she said is true; that she is a prisoner here, same as you. Earning a friend on the outside could prove beneficial. If the opportunity arises, you consider whether you ought to try and mend things.
