Digging Machine
Nora sneaked on over to the strange machine half buried in the wall.
"My god," Nora rubbed her eyes in disbelief upon getting a closer look, "I really wasn't imagining things!" The machine had seen better years. On the front jutted a massive drill, large enough that it could break through boulders. That explains how it got here at least. The tank treads it sat on were hole ridden and useless, and the hull flaked with rust. There was a skeleton wearing scraps limply hanging from the open hatch. She was surprised the Morloks haven't taken this thing apart, or destroyed it or something. In fact, it looked barely touched. Perhaps they knew trouble when they saw it. She didn't blame them. She spat on the ground in disgust. She was glad these nazis were dead.
Still, she took a look inside, hoping perhaps there would be a gun in working condition left inside. The interior was cramped, and Nora almost choked on the thick air or rust, dust, and decayed chemicals. On the drivers seat sat another skeleton, wearing an officers hat. Another lay half gnawed and strewn about on the floor. There was a table of sorts to the side, where a few faded pieces of thick paper lay, the ink barely legible. There was also a musty bunk bed embedded on the side of the hull. Relics of a bygone age, like boots, uniforms, helmets and other belongings, slept undisturbed in lockers. Nora knew of a couple museums who would be interested in such things.
While she found no working guns or weapons, she did spot a sealed metal crate. She opened it. Inside were enough hand grenades to arm an entire platoon, stielhandgranate as they called it. She shuddered at the thought of what they were planning to use these for. They looked to be in near mint condition, though she was a little hesitant about using one. But she remembered her grandfather talking about the war when she was young, about how he used to fight the communists and the nazis. He did say something about using grenades at some point. She felt confident enough. If he could, surely she could too. She took one, and stored it carefully in her pack for later use.
{if Gas Mask = true}Nora doesn't need another gas mask. One is plenty.{else}There were also several gas masks hung from pegs in a row. Nora took one. Never know when it might come in handy.{endif}
She darted her head out, and headed back the way she came.
