Diaper check in the morning

Helen sighed as she walked down the hall in the morning. Faith and Cole were already awake, her husband at work as she walked down to Alexa’s room. She couldn’t believe her middle child was still having accidents. But she maybe understood why as Helen herself often had bladder problems, but she had learned to fix that problem unlike her daughter. Helen opened the door to Alexa’s room and saw Alexa still asleep, and even... sucking her thumb... Helen sighed again. She walked over to Alexa’s curtains and pulled them open, letting the daylight enter the room. Then she put a hand on her daughter’s shoulder and shook her awake. “Alexa, wake up honey. I need to check your diaper,” Helen said, gently and softly.

Alexa stirred awake to see her mother sitting next to her. “M-mom,” Alexa said, her lip quivering “i-is checking me really necessary? I...I can do it myself.”

“Nonsense,” Helen said. “Come on, while you still have some privacy. Your siblings are downstairs and Amy is out shopping.”

“S-shopping? For what?” Alexa asked.

“I don’t know. I assume for herself. I don’t really care what your cousin does with my sister’s money,” Helen said. “Come on, Alexa. Get out of bed, now.”

Alexa reluctantly climbed out of bed. Instantly, Helen gasped. Alexa looked down in shame. “M-mom, I...” Alexa cried. “I’m sorry.”

“Oh honey,” Helen said as she looked at Alexa’s full diaper. “Why didn’t you tell me it was this bad? Did you really do that in your sleep? Oh no, sweetie. You might have a diaper rash if you were like that all night. Come, let’s go to the bathroom to get you changed.”

Helen took hold of Alexa’s hand and pulled her out of her room and to the bathroom. Alexa was surprised to see the diaper was already pulled out and ready. As if anticipating her needing a change. Alexa sulked as she was made to lay down on her back as her mom opened up her diaper. “Oh, Alexa,” her mom sighed. “Sweetie, I’m afraid you’re going to have to be in diapers 24/7. There’s no other way to stop this all. I can’t have you messing your pants and wetting them. And I can’t guarantee it’s only during the night either.”

Her mom reached for a bunch of wipes and began the process of cleaning Alexa’s bottom. Alexa felt tears running down her cheek again as she laid there. She couldn’t even look her mom in the eyes. She felt so humiliated. “M-mom I’m sorry,” Alexa cried.

“Alexa, you have a nasty diaper rash,” Helen said as she inspected Alexa’s bottom. “I’m going to need to treat it. You stay right there and don’t move.”

Helen pulled the dirty diaper out from underneath, folded it up, and threw it into a trash bag along with the dirty wipes. She left Alexa laying there on her back, her legs spread wide open with her knees up to the sky, her diaper rash on her bottom on full display for anyone who might walk in.
