Diana Thompson: Condescending Professor

Thirty-two year old Diana Thompson taught math at a small state college. It was her second job as a college professor. Her first was at a community college, and she thought it as beneath her. She took the new job, but she was aiming for bigger and more prestigious universities.

Math had always come easy to Diana, and she could not understand how anyone could struggle with math. She was the newest hire in the math department, so she was stuck teaching freshman and sophomore level math, and she hated it. She was always getting onto her students for not doing better on her tests than she thought they should.

"This isn't brain surgery, people! It's basic math. Come on, what's the problem?" she asked her last class on Friday.

After class, she worked out and met a friend for drinks. She did not make friends easily since she liked to talk about herself a lot and was always trying to prove how smart she was. Her friend was Professor Marnie Owens, a professor or philosophy and gender studies.

Diana relaxed the rest of the weekend, then woke up on Monday morning.
