Despair (Temporary Title)

No matter how many times he looked at the sample, there was 1 thing that baffled him. While all of its properties pointed to saliva, the test clearly showed that these were not digestive enzymes. Then it occurred to him that he had been through this analysis before with his protégé, Peter, when he was with trying to find the prize-winning Greek scientist, Doctor Morbius.

The seeing the expression on his charges face Alfred spoke, “Have you found anything of interest, Master Bruce?”

“Yes, Alfred,” replied Bruce, “Now would you sterilize 2 hypodermic needles, please?”

The older man’s normally stoic face just raised an eyebrow at the younger man request.

“What exactly are you looking to do, Sir,” the butler asked apprehensive as he watched as the Dark Knight was peeled away to a bare torso Bruce Wayne.

“Just an experiment, Alfred,” he answered, “my blood is a necessity.”

“Wouldn’t bagged blood be better, Master Bruce?” inquired the John Bull as he was preparing the needles.

“No, Alfred, those are needed for transfusions,” insisted Bruce as he was finished with his limited undressing, “but I do need Spider-Man here ASAP.”

“Of course, Master Bruce,” responded Alfred in his usual way.

Once dressing down was complete, Gotham City’s champion began testing the saliva-like fluid he had collected with his blood. This case reminded him of the first emergence of the Living Vampire, Michael Morbius.
