Chapter 3

What was different?
Denise smash?
I was green. My god damn skin had...no, even my hair had turned green! I rubbed at my face, thinking maybe there was some sort of dye in that water that came down on me. Not sign of any smudging. Swearing, I ran to the bathroom and ran hot water along my hands, trying to get it off. I scrubbed with soap until it hurt, but it was no good.
"Oh what the fuck..." I moaned in dismay. I looked like rejected Smurf or the Jolly Green Giant's sour puss niece. What was I going to do now? I couldn't go to school like this! I'd be expelled! Nobody would believe that I had walked into a single area rainstorm, localized in my backyard and it turned me green! The bastards at school would think I was playing some fucked up joke!
I leaned on the counter, taking deep breaths. "Okay...okay, take it easy," I told myself. "It's alright. Just...call out sick for today. You're green. Mom can bitch at you all she wants, you're green, that means you're sick." Looking at my hands, I realized they were dry again. ...just like before. Curious, I ran more water over my hand and watched. It dripped a bit before...the water was just sucked into my skin!
I whistled softly. "Well, fuck me..." My skin was sucking up water like a sponge. ...oh FUCK! I'm like Spongebob! DAMN YOU SPONGEBOB! DAMN YOU! Shaking it off, I started to wonder what it meant. This was normal tap water, not weird falling-out-of-a-single-cloud water. So that meant it was ME that was fucked up. ...not that there was anything odd about that. Just for the hell of it, I cupped my hands and poured water into them. What didn't slip through my fingers was absorbed right into me. I wonder where it was going...my fingers weren't all bloated or anything...
Where's the water going?
