Chapter 5 by JayMan1771 JayMan1771

What's next?

Deliver a message

Hephaestus was finally done with one of his first creations, and was ready to send his mischievous offering to the gods. As to how he had sent it up to Mount Olympus was another task.

Helios' Chariot was a creation of his long ago, for none other than Helios the Titan of the Sun. In legend, he is merely the charioteer, whereas the passenger is Apollo, the son of Zeus, and carries to title of the sun god today. Helios, lets his son Phaethon drive it, however, Phaethon soon lost control and was killed, making Helios vow to never let anyone else drive the solar chariot. Imbuing himself with the chariot himself, to forever pull the sun across the sky.

Apollo was one of Zeus’s powerful sons, and was a well respected deity. If done properly, he could easily be manipulated into doing a task for Hephaestus. The task of which, was to deliver the throne as an offering of forgiveness. Regardless of how they treated him, he wanted them to believe that he still loved them, and want to be apart of the family again.

Hephaestus sat upon a volcanic chiseled throne he had crafted for himself from the molten magma’s depths. Within his enlarging forge chamber, he thought, going over his plan over and over again. The heated floor bubbled and cracked with steaming sounds of pulsating geysers, guiding up to the forge behind the throne chair. Streams of lava pour from open holes in the ceiling, cascading down onto the damp floor and water beds.

He sat like stone in wait for Apollo. Hephaestus’s deformed muscular upper body was hunched over, fist at chin, like “The Thinker” statue. Sweat dripped down his body, and long dark hair. Wet, nasty and covered in ashen filth, he pondered with little care for the glamorous lifestyle his bloodline upheld. This would not stop him from re-entering his birthplace, and taking his rightful place.

Apollo’s proposal?
