Defense of the Gate

The outside was chaotic as various Pokémon around were running around, gathering their stuff and various Pokémon. Some Pokémon have hand-crafted weapons like wooden spears with stone edge, machete, anything they could come up with

You and your co. moved to one of the guards. “What is going on exactly?” he asked, trying to follow them.

“Our scouts have discovered a mob of infected Pokémon slowly approaching the camp, it’s quite big and varied in Pokémon and sizes.” the guard explained as he tried to help some Pokémon gather in groups. It seems the group is leading those who don’t look like fighters to somewhere.

“There’s infected that bunch together?” Rachael asked shocked.

“It happens on occasion. We get attacks every now and then, sometimes their few. Others are more than we expected.” A female guard explained before a Furret ran to them. “Everyone, we have a problem!”

The guards and your group turned to the slinky ferret Pokémon. “I just did a quick check on our special attackers and we’re short!” she explained. “What?!” The guards asked. “Some are too sick or injured to continue! And with this size, we’ll be in some trouble with some flanks.” The furret responded. “This is bad, even if we request for help, these Pokémon are mostly civilians, we won’t be able to-”

“I’ll help!” You announced to the guards, shocking everyone around them. “Rai, wait! It’s too dangerous!” your sister explained, holding your arm.

“She’s right. This is no place for a kid to get mixed up in all this, there’s a chance you might have to push even harder than usual.”

“My father was the captain of my town’s guards. He trained me diligently. I can help with the camp’s defenses!” he stated confidently.

“Look kid-” one said trying to change his mind, “If those infected Pokémon breach the gates around here, we’ll all be in serious trouble. We can’t take that risk!” You insisted firmly.

The group looked at each other and then you for a moment. “... it takes some kind of stones to make it here you three.” The female guard said.

“If you’re helping, I will too.” Rachael said as you and the other guards looked at the Buneary. “Do you have any special moves of your own?” “I can use Ice Beam and Charge Beam.” Rachael stated.

“You sure about this?” You asked.

“No, but like you said, we don’t have much choice. It’ll be some time for them to find others.” your friend stated.

“Alright, I’ll escort the Pachirisu to the underground shelter as we also crafted an escape route through the underground in case of emergency.” The Furret said.

“Brother…” Kate looks at you in worry.

“Don’t worry…” You gave her a reassuring pat on the head. “A Voltaire can do anything!”

With that the girl nodded and headed with the others.

At the gate, You and Rachael and 8 others were gathered. “Okay, we have four pathways some infected will be charging from.” A Blaziken said pointing at each of the different roads that soon intersect into the main road in front of the gate. “We need to strike at the infected Pokémon that come out to try and breach the gate. If by off chance some get through, we have some ground fighters to deal with them. We only assist if they’re getting overwhelmed.”

The Scyther then passed each Pokémon a couple of elixirs. “These will keep you energized and strong, use them only when you absolutely need them! Also if you see infected Pokémon in a group of three or more, try to strike them at the same time! Is that clear?”

Everyone nodded their heads and took position. Two Pokémon each facing one of the corners. You and Rachael were facing one corner together. ‘Everything will work out.’ you thought in his head. ‘Just keep an eye out for any side that’s getting overwhelmed and attacked.’

Soon they all saw some Pokémon coming towards the gate, from the movement and the intense growling, it was an infected Pokémon for sure. You zapped those coming with thunderbolt, making them cry out in pain and run away.

Soon, a number of them started walking down different kinds of pathways with every range attacker striking at any ones that were getting close. Some were hitting multiple Pokémon at once. “Remember, don’t overexert yourself! Let others attack so you can recollect yourself.”

You heard a commotion and noticed a few infected fighting some of the guards at the gate. Some have wings like Pidgeotto, looking like they can climb, etc. The two were slightly worried, but kept with the gate defense. “There’s a lot of them!” Some speak like that as they started to drink one of the elixirs. You decide to do the same to keep up as the numbers increase…
