"It's fine." Sam lies again, I've had worse.

Lauren can clearly see through the lie and Sam can't help but wonder if it's having seen her mother do so before. Thinking of Emma is enough to make him worry again, about the poor woman currently in the kitchen. "Okay." Is all Lauren says, as their eyes lock.

Sam shuffles awkwardly for a moment before grabbing his shirt, somehow remembering that Monica is currently trying to climb in his bedroom window. "I'm gonna go lie down for a bit." Sam finally says.

"Are you sure?" Lauren asks, her hand reaching for his bare chest once again, resting it lightly there, and Sam can almost feel the heat of her body. "I'm not sure you should be alone for too long. You could have concussion or something."

Sam thinks about it again. Monica may have gotten into his room, just fine, but what if she hadn't. He could go help her, or he could stay here with Lauren.
