Chapter 3 by perv-senpai perv-senpai

What's next?

Continue the conversation

Jinx broke the silence first, her voice surprisingly soft. "You know, most people see me and think I'm just a crazy girl who likes to blow things up. They don't get it. They don't understand why I do what I do."

"Why do you do it, Jinx?" I asked gently, wanting to understand the girl behind the mayhem.

She sighed, looking up at the sky as if searching for the right words. "It's... it's like the only way I can feel alive. The world is so ordered, so controlled, and I just want to break free from it. When things explode, when chaos erupts, it feels like I'm finally making a mark, like I'm not just invisible."

I nodded, understanding more than she might have realized. "I get it. Sometimes, you just want to break free from everything that's expected of you, to be seen for who you really are."

Jinx glanced at me, her eyes searching my face for any sign of mockery. Finding none, she continued. "Yeah. And it's not like anyone really cares about me. They just see the chaos, not the person behind it."

"Well, I care, Jinx. And I want to know more about you," I said sincerely. "Tell me more about your life. What was it like growing up in Zaun?"

Her eyes widened slightly, as if surprised by my interest. "Zaun... it's a tough place. Dark, dirty, and full of people just trying to survive. I didn't really fit in anywhere. I tried to be good, to follow the rules, but it just... it never worked out. So I decided to make my own rules."

I could see the pain behind her words, the loneliness of a girl who had always felt like an outsider. "That must have been hard. I can't imagine what it's like to feel like you don't belong."

"It was," she admitted, her voice barely above a whisper. "But then I found my own way to survive. To stand out. To be me."

I shared some of my own stories, telling her about my life before Summoner's Rift, the struggles and the moments of joy. We talked about our dreams, our fears, and the things that kept us going. As we spoke, the connection between us deepened, and the barriers Jinx had built around herself began to crumble.

The sun had long since set, and the stars were now twinkling brightly above us. The night air was cool, but the warmth of our conversation kept us comfortable. Jinx looked around, noticing the darkness that had settled over Summoner's Rift.

"Wow, we've been talking for hours," she said with a hint of amazement in her voice. "I didn't even realize how late it got."

I smiled, feeling the same sense of surprise. "Time flies when you're with good company."

Jinx's grin was softer this time, more genuine. "You know, John, I'm really glad you got pulled into this place. I don't have many people to talk to, and even fewer who actually listen. It's... nice."

"It's nice for me too, Jinx. You make this place a lot more interesting," I replied, my heart warming at her words.

She looked down, fiddling with one of her many belts. "I've always felt like an outsider, like no one really gets me. But with you, I feel... different. Like I can be myself and it's okay. Like I'm not just some crazy girl."

"You're not just some crazy girl, Jinx. You're amazing just the way you are," I said, reaching out to gently touch her hand.

Jinx looked up, her eyes shining with an emotion I couldn't quite place. "Thanks, John. That means a lot. More than you know."

We sat in silence again, but this time it was a comfortable silence, filled with the unspoken bond we had formed. The stars above seemed to shine brighter, and the world felt a little less chaotic with Jinx by my side.

Eventually, she leaned against me, her head resting on my shoulder. "You know, it's been a long time since I've felt this happy. Since I've felt... like I belong."

I wrapped my arm around her, holding her close. "You do belong, Jinx. Right here, with me."

The calm never lasts long
