Continue down the hallway

Jake stood in the corridor. Slowly, he walked down the hallway, the floorboards creaking with each step. He passed one closed door after another. Jake noticed that they were numbered – odd numbers on the left, and even numbers on the right. At the end of the hall there was a final closed door without a number.
