Confess

No small part of me wants to run away, but before I could even begin running, I realized something. This could be my best chance to tell her. But not here. "Can I talk to you in private?" I ask, my eyes darting to the remaining members of team RWBY. Silver eyes scrunched up in confusion as her mind processed what I just asked.

"Sure," she shrugged in answer. Ruby turned to her team and said, "We'll meet up with you in our room."

Blake Belladonna, who was well known for her indifference to most situations, walked away after sparing one backward glance at us. But the other two did react more. Yang Xio Long, Ruby's older sister, looked like she was only barely keeping from gushing over the situation. Meanwhile on the other side of the spectrum was Weiss Schnee, Ruby's partner, who spared one last suspicious glare at me before turning on her heel, her ponytail snapping back.

Ruby and I walk away from the routes the other students were taking to get back to their dorms. As the number of witnesses shrunk down, the butterflies became restless.

"So what did you want to talk about?" She asked.

"So I was wondering if you.." I started, "Thought those cookies were good?"

"Yeah! They were amazing!" Ruby answered, her wide, silver eyes glittering as she recalled the taste from those sweets. I am **** to wonder if she knew she had changed those butterflies to Goliath's. After a minute, she focused back on why we were both there. "But I still don't know why you made me them?"

'Can't I fight through an army of Goliath's instead?' I mentally cried. With a deep breath, I said, "I wanted to say...I like you and was wondering if you'd go out with me?"

Ruby took a step backward as her eyes widened as if she was struck. Someone would think that she was never asked out before, but that's impossible.
