Chapter 11 by Anonegg Anonegg

What's next?

Computer studies

As Mary and Serena sat Julie down at her computer terminal, she felt a wave of relief wash over her. The big white blur in front of her looked to be a computer, and it looked like it was a large screen. After the embarrassment of flashing the entire English class, hiding behind a computer was an enormous relief!

Although Julie couldn't see it, the classroom was a series of rows with three desks in each row, all facing the front of the class. Julie and her 'friends' were located at the very back row. A small, but crucially important, detail was that the chairs in this room were not the smooth, wooden and plastic chairs employed in the rest of the school. They were fabric-covered swivel chairs. As Julie sat herself down, neither she nor the other girls noticed as a loose piece of Velcro on Julie's skirt attached itself to this fabric.

"Okay class," the teacher, an indistinct blur with a male voice as far as Julie was concerned, said. "Today you will continue with your projects; building a simple IT system to track and record the sales of videos at our Imaginary Video Store. Mary, Serena, I see you're sitting with the new girl; can you incorporate her into your project?"

"Not a problem, sir!" Mary replied.

After a few moments the room filled with the sound of keyboards clacking and a low buzz of conversation. Serena caught Mary's eye, pointed at Julie and mimed tearing her shirt off. Mary shook her head and signalled with her hands that they should keep things quiet for the time being.

"Don't want the principle to hear." Mary whispered.

"What?" Julie asked.

"Nothing. Nothing. So can you see the screen without your glasses?"

"Not really." Julie admitted.

"Alright then; for today me and Serena will take care of the spreadsheet. You can be in charge of filing. Can you see the cabinet just behind us?"

"Sort of."

"There's a black binder on the third row up; it'll be about chest height. Go grab it for us."

As Julie stood up from her seat it made a 'click-pssht' noise as the compressed air, without a weight on top of it, pushed the chair back into it's normal position. This sound managed to hide the sound of tearing Velcro. Mary and Serena watched open mouthed as the bottomless and completely oblivious Julie walked uncertainly towards the cabinet, fumbled for a few seconds and picked up a black binder.
