James let himself relax completely, and soon she had him laughing on a regular basis. Any time he would be killed by someone other than her, she would flicker orange. She'd gotten very good very fast.

Few of the people they matches against could keep up with her. Then it happened. The last round, the last match, someone had matched her point for point. Whichever of them got the next kill would win. She'd had her sights lined up and sat in the perfect spot, and the opposing player turned and shot her avatar in the head. The screen blinked, and the scoreboard showed her and James on the losing team.

"I'm close then fuck!", she shouted. She tossed her odd controller to the next cushion.

They heard from the headphones, "If you want. Where d'you live?"

She flickered bright orange and a sickly green color, shouting into the microphone, "I hope you mother born you backward!"

James could hear the other players laughing. He took the headphones off of her and set them on the table, wrapping an arm across her shoulders after.

"It's just a game. Fun, you know?"

She continued pouting, "Only fun winning."

"Mmmaybe we should show you some different games.", he eyed the small cabinet that held his meager collection. Maybe he still had that old game about pinatas...

He snapped out of his thoughts when he heard Aurora mumble, "Dark."
