Comments and concerns

Nina was watching the BBC broadcast of the event. Doctor Doom was knighting one of the German Security personal for the actions she had witnessed Johanna take to stop Hydra from shooting down his plane. Johanna had told her she wouldn’t meet with the dictator and sure enough they had offered up one of the officers that had made fun of the meeting to endure Doom’s ranting instead.

Nina’s mussing were interrupted by her work phone pinging. She frowned and picked it up. She had a message from Maria Hill.

“What is it now?” Nina arched an eyebrow and picked up the phone, “My boyfriend? What is she referring to? OH SHIT!”

*

Johanna was laying on the floor of the indoor range with her MKb-36 hitting targets as they popped up. All of the cardboard figures were Hydra troopers. She was doing pretty well at hitting each of the targets as they came up… until Nina interrupted.

“Captain Schmidt! Captain Schmidt!” the American shouted as she burst into the range.

Johanna’s pull of her trigger was thrown off and the shot missed the face of the hydra trooper and instead landed in the picture’s neck. Johanna took a deep breath and flicked the safety lever to safe and went about unloading her MKb. Johanna ignored the American’s shouting until she was done unloading and making the weapon safe. She grabbed the loose live round and stuffed it back in the top of the magazine. Once she was done she stood up, dusted herself off and turned to the American SHIELD Agent.

“What seems to be the problem Special Agent Price?” Johanna tilted her head and folded her arms.

“Shield just warned me that we have a real problem coming to your back yard,” Nina said in an excited tone.

“Another Romanian dressing up as a Vampire?” Johanna rolled her eyes.

“No,” Nina said trying to calm herself down, “The serial killer Blade is coming to Europe!”

Johanna swore a solid five minutes in her native old Prussian dialect.

*

Johanna and Sin paced in circles around each other swearing in Prussian as Nina sat on the office couch watching. Nina looked behind her as the door opened softly and was about to get up when the woman who entered gestured for her to remain seated and quite. Nina watched as the President of the German Reich came around the side of the couch and took a seat next to her.

“Madam,” Nina said in an attempt to speak German.

“I understand you do not normally speak German,” the woman smiled as she spoke accented English.

“I didn’t take European tongues when I learned foreign languages,” Nina confessed.

“Hmm,” the woman frowned for a second, “What are they so concerned about?”

“I informed them that the serial killer called ‘Blade’ is currently being tracked moving to Europe,” Nina said, “They are concerned that he will become active in Germany.”

“Blade….” The woman thought for a second before speaking up, “Isn’t he the African man obsessed with Vampires?”

“Yes Madam President,” Sin said reflexively.

Both Schmidt’s stopped in their tracks.

“They share so many… how do you say… Mannerisms?” the President of Germany asked in English.

“They might almost be confused for sister,” Nina admitted.

“Madam President!” Johanna said.

“Please call me Alda,” the president stood up while speaking in German, “I am not here with a mission for the Hero of Germany, but with a request for my lover. I have been asked to attend the season opening for the Wiener Opera House. I want you to come with me as my date.”

“Oh-per-house?” Nina asked.

“Opernhaus,” Sin corrected the American, “It means Opera House.”

“I should think the First Lady of the Reich would need a body guard too,” the President said in English to Nina, “I will see that you are part of the detail… Do you have any fancy clothes with you?”

Nina gave the woman a blank stare.

“Looks Like I will take these two shopping then Madame President,” Sin put her face in her hand, “Let’s go you two.”

“Madame President,” Nina spoke up, “I am here to investigate Captain Schmidt’s incidents…” Nina stared protesting.

“And since you have been here,” the President retorted, “The incidents have continued to find Johanna. So, it would be best if you stayed at her side.”

“I have a nice dress,” Johanna snapped at her daughter.

“The rags in your closet? Those aren’t nice dresses,” Sin snickered.

“I have a stylish dress,” Johanna insisted.

“You bought it in the 1970’s,” Sin rolled her eyes, “It wasn’t stylish a week after you bought it.”

“It’s still perfectly fine!”

“Its half-eaten by moths!” Sin laughed.

“Why would Moths eat a lace dress treated with arsenic?”

“They had to listen to you singing in the shower mother,” Sin grinned.

“Your daughter is right,” the President said.

“You weren’t complaining about my singing in the shower,” Johanna said.

“I was trying to get you to focus on other activities in the shower my dear,” the President snickered.
