At first you seemed to drift of into a deep drunken slumber, yet after what felt like an eternity you can hear quiet sobs from across the room. Looking up you can see Melody’s silhouette in the darkness. Her body is moving around and the sobs are getting louder, bit by bit. After a few minutes of listening to her sob like this you decide to see whether she is ok.
Quietly you slip out of your bed, and move towards the sounds slowly, cautious not to make a sound. As you arrive next to her you can see that her whole body is shivering, she seems to hold onto the cushion for dear life, as she is crying her eyes out.
Seeing your best friend and secret crush like this puts you into the same agony, you curse Keith silently as you let your instincts take over. Your hand reaches out without your doing and rests on Melody’s shoulder, almost instantly she stops shivering. Sitting down beside her you can hear her faint whispers between her sobs. “Please don’t let me be alone tonight, Jack…”
Not knowing what to say you simply lift her into your arms and hold her close, her tears continue streaming down her face and onto your body, even as she holds onto you tighter than anyone ever has. Her fingers actually seem to dig into your flesh, but that is of no consequence for you at that point. All that matters now is holding her close and comforting the woman you secretly love so much. So you settle down with her head on your chest and her arms around your waist as you stroke her hair with one hand and hold her close with the other, whispering calming words to her, hoping to relieve some of that pain. Though having Melody this close to you would arouse you normally, you are almost incapable of feeling anything but pity for her right now, so you hug her even closer to you. Feeling her warm body against yours you slowly drift of into the land of dreams, content to support your friend at least like this. You cannot fully suppress your desire for Melody though, so lying with her like this takes all your willpower.
