Clothes and a new friend

The cat walked to the end of the alley and looked out. The humans she saw had more body covering than she herself or those females pictured on her human's glowing box, and she understood why. Without fur on any part of her body but the top of her head, her ears and her tail she was feeling cold. She wished a human would give her some warm body-coverings. The bone she was holding became warm, which was strange, but she had just turned into a human so it was one of the less strange things to happen lately.

One of the females she had been observing looked toward her and then turned and approached. The cat watched her, ready to run if she was unfriendly. The female (Woman, the cat had to remember that female humans were woman, or girl if immature, although she could not determine that yet) did something with her 'hands' (the cat really needed to learn to use her own, they were so useful) and opened the covering she was wearing (which smelled like animal hair from a food animal mixed with other odd smells, like some of the cat's human's coverings but with more plant-smells.) "You're naked! And freezing!" said the woman holding out the covering "Here, put this on, it's warm"

The cat was still learning to use her hands and had no idea how to put the covering over her or close it up, she wished the woman would do it for her. Again the bone became warm. She wondered why, and how she could do it again, since she could at least use keep her hands warm if she knew.

"Here" said the woman "Put out your arm"

The cat didn't know what an 'arm' was but the woman grabbed her front leg (which must be called an 'arm' since humans only used two legs) and put it through one of the holes then went behind the cat, took her other 'arm' and put it through another hole. She then walked in back in front and used her 'hands' to put the hard round things through little holes so one side of the covering and the other stayed together. Once she was done the cat felt warmer around her top part, although her feet and legs were still cold. Still she was happy with the woman and decided to show her, stepping up and rubbing herself against her.

The woman stepped back, obviously shocked. The cat did not understand. Humans enjoyed having bodies rubbed against them, they had when she was still all cat and the pictures on the glowing box had suggested they should now. She wished she understood.

Again the bone got warm for a second and the cat realized that it happened when she wanted something she didn't have. She would remember that if she needed it to keep warm, although it didn't seem to stay warm for long, stupid bone.

"People don't usually rub themselves against each other in public" said the woman "and they usually do it when they want to have sex, not just to show appreciation or affection."

The woman then looked worried as if she didn't know why she had said that.

"So what should I do?" asked the cat

"Say thank-you" said the woman

"Thank you ... no 'say "thank you" not enough, what more?"

"Umm ... you could ... I don't know, hug me?"

The cat remembered 'hug' it meant 'put arms around' so she walked up and 'hugged' the woman, and then stroked her hair the way humans had when the 'hugged' cat. She wanted the woman to enjoy it and, as the bone warmed in her hand, the woman, who had seemed uncomfortable, started to relax. The cat was also enjoying the 'hug' and began to purr. The bone became warm again and the woman began to stroke the cat's hair and rub her behind he ears the way she liked.

Before she knew it the cat was rubbing against the woman again. This time she did not seem to mind and instead whispered "Let's go back to my place".

The cat like the idea of going home with the woman, back to a warm house. "Yes" she said.

The woman stopped the hug, pulled away and then held the cat's 'hand' and led her along the street. "I'm Megan" said the woman.

"I'm Cat" said the cat.
