Check both of them

The door to the right turns out to be an oversized closet containing a bunch of boxes but nothing of interest. After flashing your light around to make sure, you close the door and open the left hand door and freeze, looking at a staircase leading down.

You feel a little flutter in your tummy. This old place is creepy enough, but the thought of what it's basement might be like has goosebumps prickling all over your skin. You silently curse Brianna for pranking you by disappearing as you shine your light down the stairs, trying to decide what to do.

The stairs run down to a landing about ten steps lower, then turn to the left and out of sight. You bite your lip, trying to choose between going down, or turning back and exploring more of the main floor of the house. Brianna could have come this way, but you think she's more likely to be hidden behind you, waiting to jump out and scare the shit out of you. Either way, you have to make a choice you tell yourself sternly.
