Chapter 2: Why Do I Even Want This?
Continued from chapter 1:
"What happens..." I ask, my voice dropping. "If I cross the line?"
She doesn't flinch. She doesn't recoil or stiffen. If anything, she seems to become more still, more grounded. The hum of the white noise machine outside the door suddenly feels louder in the silence she allows to stretch between us. She studies me—not as a patient presenting a symptom, but as a man asking a very specific, very pointed question.
"Nothing happens," she says, her voice low and steady. "Not in the way you might be imagining. I won't throw you out. I won't lecture you on professionalism. And I certainly won't be shocked."
She leans forward just an inch, resting her forearms on her knees. It's a subtle change in geometry, closing the gap between the two chairs. Her eyes remain fixed on mine, calm and unblinking.
I take a breath. My pulse quickens in my throat.
"Well... then... here goes..." I start, my voice uneven. "I... I don't know why, but I've been really wanting someone to spank me. I know it's weird—I'm an adult—but the thought of it really makes me excited. And I don't know how to make it... happen."
Chapter 2:
The words tumble out, clumsy and raw. Heat floods my face.
There is no flicker of surprise on Adalyn's face. No widening of the eyes, no nervous laugh, no tightening of her jaw. She absorbs the confession with the same unhurried attention she gave everything else. She lets the words sit in the air between us, allowing the potential shame of them to dissipate naturally rather than rushing to fix it.
"Okay," she says, the word acting as a neutral anchor.
She picks up the pen she hadn't been using and turns it slowly over in her fingers—a rhythmic, tactile motion. She isn't writing; she's thinking. Her gaze remains on me, warm and entirely unperturbed.
"It's not weird," she continues. "It's a desire. Desires aren't inherently strange; they only become strange when we try to hide them or judge them."
I stay silent. I don't know what to say, so I let her talk. The shame of it sits heavy in my chest, but something in her composure makes it feel less unbearable.
She notices the silence immediately. She doesn't try to break it with chatter or reassurance. She simply sits with me in it, acknowledging the weight of what I just said and the sudden vacuum of words that followed. She watches the way I retreat into myself, the way the air in the room seems to thicken with the unspoken.
"You're waiting for me to react," she says eventually, her voice barely above a murmur. It isn't a question; it's an observation. "Waiting to see if I'll recoil, or if I'll treat this like a problem to be solved."
She puts the pen down on the chair beside her. The clicking sound is sharp in the quiet room.
"Ummm... both," I say, my words tumbling over each other. "It's just so embarrassing to ask someone to do... that... you know? How do I find someone who would even want to? And if they said no? It would be absolutely humiliating. Why do I even want this? It's not normal..."
The questions spiral out of me, a frantic cascade of anxiety and doubt.
Adalyn waits until I finish before she speaks. She doesn't interrupt the momentum of my anxiety; she lets it run its course, then gently pulls the thread.
"Let's slow down," she says. "You're jumping from the fear of rejection straight into questioning your own normalcy. Both of those are defenses against the actual feeling of the desire itself."
She shifts her weight, leaning slightly toward me. Her expression is calm, almost clinical, but there is a softness in her eyes that suggests she is listening to the subtext—the vulnerability beneath the logistical panic.
"As for whether it's normal," she continues, "normal' is a statistical concept, not a human one. People have all sorts of ways they want to be touched, held, or disciplined. That doesn't make it abnormal. It just makes it yours."
"I don't know if I could give this to any partner of mine," I say. "I'm currently single, but this seems like something dangerous to keep in the home. Do you know of any... professionals who provide... spank therapy?"
Adalyn catches the slip—the term 'spank therapy'—but she doesn't correct me outright. She recognizes it for what it is: a clumsy attempt to wrap a sexual desire in a medicalized blanket, to make it feel safer to discuss. To make it feel less like a transgression and more like a prescription.
"Spank therapy isn't a clinical term," she says, her tone dry but not unkind. She lets that land, allowing me to hear the distinction between a psychological need and a physical act. "But I understand what you're asking. You're looking for a way to experience this without the risk of emotional exposure or the messiness of a personal relationship."
She watches me closely, her gaze unwavering.
"Yes, please," I say softly.
She holds my gaze. For a moment, she doesn't answer. She lets the request hang in the room, heavy and expectant. I can feel her processing, weighing the boundary I'm asking her to cross against the vulnerability I've just exposed.
"I can't give you a referral for that," she says, her voice level and factual. She doesn't apologize; she simply states it as a boundary. "My role isn't to facilitate the act itself. My role is to help you understand why you want it, and how to integrate it into your life without it feeling like a source of humiliation."
She pauses, watching me carefully. The silence stretches between us.
"I... I just don't want to," I say. "I'm not ready for that yet. I just want to be spanked. As an adult. To see what it would feel like."
To be continued in chapter 3...
