Chapter 10: The Model Date
As the sun dipped lower on the horizon, its warm, orange glow bathed Dagobah Beach in a serene light. The waves lapped rhythmically at the shore, and a light breeze carried the salty scent of the sea. Ochako Uraraka approached the meeting spot, nervous energy bubbling in her chest as she made one last check on the location she was sent before flipping her phone shut. She had taken the time to freshen up at her hotel, ensuring she looked her best for her first-ever date. Despite being the hometown sweetheart back at home, the girl had zero experience with romance apart from the films and shows she and her sister binged late into the evening. As such, her heart raced as she spotted Izuku Midoriya waiting for her, his green hair ruffling slightly in the wind. He turned to her with a bright smile, seeming happy that she had shown up, even with a bit of nerves bubbling in his eyes.
Izuku was as excited as he was anxious. Ochako Uraraka had seemed cute back when they were taking the exam, but seeing her here, she suddenly seemed … more. He almost couldn't bring himself to speak lest he ruin whatever image he seemed to have forged for himself in her eyes. He fidgeted with his hands but tried to play it off as nonchalant. Even after dating Katsumi for nearly a year, Izuku couldn’t help who he was– a damn nerd.
"H-Hey, Uraraka! You… um, you look really great," he said, the words tumbling out awkwardly yet earnestly as she drew closer.
Ochako's face flushed, her hand brushing against her cheek as if she could somehow hide the redness. "T-Thanks, Midoriya," she replied, her voice soft but full of warmth. She glanced around, taking in the beautiful scenery. "This place… it’s amazing. I didn't expect the beach to be this beautiful. The tourism site mentioned something about how this place was a dump."
Izuku, still a little flustered, scratched the back of his head. "Yeah, it was. I’ve spent a lot of time here, actually. This was where I did a lot of my training."
Ochako tilted her head in confusion, and the young man rushed to elaborate. "I cleaned the whole beach. Took months of hauling trash and clearing debris. It was exhausting, but it really helped me build up my strength and focus."
Her mouth dropped open slightly. "You did all that by yourself? Holy moly, Midoriya! You never cease to amaze me." She blinked, realizing how much admiration was seeping into her voice. She cleared her throat, trying to sound more casual. "I mean, that must have been super tough."
Izuku chuckled softly, his gaze softening as he looked at her. "It was tough, but it felt like it was worth it. Plus… I kind of needed the practice."
After a little bit of walking Uraraka turned to Izuku and asked, "So how did this beach even get like that anyway?"
"Oh, that's a bit of a long story, " Izuku said with a chuckle, months of memories bubbling up in his mind.
Ochako’s curiosity was piqued. The article on the tourism site wasn’t all that dated, so whatever happened here had to have been recent. "We got time. Spill the beans!"
“You asked for it." Izuku smiled. "So a handful of years ago, there was a villain who was on the run from the pro-hero Selkie. In their escape, they, unfortunately, caused a bunch of ocean currents to get out of sorts, causing some of them to wind up here. With random objects and the trash being carried and thrown here by the ocean, scum would take advantage of this and illegally dump their own garbage here as well. So even after the currents were fixed, the damage was already done, and there became some sort of culture to just toss trash here.”
“That’s awful. No one stopped them?”
“People tried.” Izuku shrugged. “Heck, for a time, people actually tried to clean up the trash, but there was never enough work to meet demand. The local residents even petitioned the city legislature about it, but as you know ..."
"City legislature is the only thing slower than watching paint dry." Ochako cut in.
"You know it," Izuku sighed before continuing. “And since it built up so much over time, no one dared take on the herculean task. At least not until my trainer spotted it and decided it would be a great way to train me while also giving back to the community."
“Well, you did a darn good job.” Ochako felt quite proud of her date, further reinforcing how much of a hero he was in her eyes. Surveying Izuku’s extraordinary work, the brunette formed a wistful expression. "I wish I had brought a swimsuit. This would have been a perfect evening for a swim."
Izuku’s brain short-circuited momentarily as the image of Ochako in a bikini popped into his mind. With things warming up as winter turned into spring, Ochako had elected to wear an off-shoulder sweater and skirt combination that demonstrated just how curvaceous his latest paramour was. His cheeks instantly flared up with a deep blush, and he quickly looked away, hoping she wouldn’t notice. ‘A swimsuit would be deadly. She's already so beautiful… She could totally be a model if she wanted.’
Ochako, who had been gazing at the water, froze as her face turned bright red. "W-What did you say, Midoriya?" she asked, her voice shy and a little flustered.
Izuku’s eyes widened as he realized what he’d just said aloud. He fumbled, his own blush deepening. "Ah! N-Nothing! I mean—uh, it was just a thought—" He stammered, his hand shooting to the back of his neck in his usual nervous habit. "I was just thinking that we can always come back once we’re in UA. We’ll have plenty of time to enjoy it then, right?"
Ochako, despite her embarrassment, couldn’t help but giggle at his flustered state. Her heart fluttered knowing that he thought that way about her, though the blush on her cheeks still hadn’t faded. "That sounds perfect. I’d love that."
Without thinking, Ochako leaned into him, her shoulder brushing against his. It felt natural, comfortable even, like a moment of quiet connection amidst the noise of their daily training and dreams of becoming heroes. Izuku, feeling a rush of warmth at the closeness, hesitated for a second before draping his arm around her shoulders. His touch was tentative and unsure, but he relaxed into it when she didn’t pull away.
The silence between them was calm and comforting, broken only by the distant cawing of seagulls and the hum of the ocean. After a while, Ochako broke the quiet with a grin. "So… you’re kind of a huge nerd when it comes to quirks, huh?"
Izuku blinked in surprise at the sudden question but then laughed softly, rubbing the back of his neck. "Yeah, I guess I am," he admitted, not even trying to deny it. "I’ve always been obsessed with quirks. When I thought I didn’t have one, I threw myself into studying every type of quirk I could find. It was the only way I thought I could keep up with everyone else."
Ochako’s expression shifted from playful to curious. "Wait… so when you said you had trouble controlling your quirk…"
"Yeah," Izuku nodded. "I’m a late bloomer, so I’ve only had it for about a year now. It’s been a lot of hard work, but honestly, it’s been fun too."
Her eyes widened in disbelief. "A year? And you’re already this amazing?" She shook her head, her voice filled with admiration. "You’re going to be an incredible hero, Izuku—" She cut herself off, realizing she’d used his first name, her cheeks heating up in embarrassment. "I-I mean, Midoriya!" she quickly corrected.
But instead of being awkward, Izuku laughed—a light, genuine sound that seemed to ease the tension between them. "Izuku’s fine, really."
Ochako pouted at how cool he was being. “O-okay, but you have to call me Ochako! It’s what’s fair, after all.”
He grinned, the ease of their conversation making his heart feel lighter. "Deal, Ochako."
As they continued strolling down the beach, their conversation drifted to getting to know one another more. Ochako animatedly described her love for space and mochi, while Izuku laughed as he recounted his obvious obsession with heroes. Their comfortable banter flowed easily, and soon, they reached the nearby pier, where a small, cozy diner caught their attention.
The diner had a classic American charm, with checkered floors and a jukebox softly playing old tunes. They slid into a booth by the window, the glow of the sunset casting a soft light on their table. The food was simple American fare but delicious, and the relaxed atmosphere allowed them both to unwind. When the bill arrived, Ochako immediately reached for it, insisting that she cover the bill since she was the one who asked him out.
However, Izuku was quicker, grabbing it first with a determined grin. "I’ve got this one. You can get the next."
Ochako pouted playfully, leaning forward. "Fine, but I still want to pay you back somehow!"
Izuku, chuckling at her persistence, relented a bit. "Alright, alright. How about you pay for dessert?"
After paying, they stepped out to figure out where to go. Out of the corner of her eye, Ochako spotted a mochi stall just down the pier.
"Aha!" Ochaco exclaimed, "They sell mochi here! Come, come!" She pulled Izuku down towards the dessert stand and said, "This is how I'll pay you back. You have to try green tea mochi! It's my favorite."
The gravity girl excitedly took her wallet out of her purse, though Izuku noted there was an odd moment of hesitation as she pulled out enough cash for two. That feeling went away as the girl happily passed him his share of mochi, and the two returned to walking back along the pier, enjoying the quiet evening as the first stars started to twinkle overhead.
Izuku's thoughts wandered, and he was curious about how this new relationship dynamic might work. He'd never really thought much about dating multiple girls, considering his only sample size was Katsumi’s parents.
“So you mentioned you have two mothers, right? Any other family?” Izuku wondered aloud. Despite having two mothers, Katsumi was still an only child. Part of him figured that was a limitation of Retcon, as if it couldn’t just create a person out of nothing. But Ochako’s next words made him rethink that.
Ochako perked up at his question, smiling. "Mhm! I have a half-sister from my other Mom." Her expression brightened as if she had just remembered something important. “Actually, she’s aiming to go to UA, too! She had her written exam earlier than us, though, so you wouldn’t have met her. She was sleeping when I got back to the hotel room, so I didn’t want to wake her... I’ll introduce you some time!”
Izuku blinked, surprised. It wasn’t often that siblings enrolled in Hero School at the same time. His curiosity piqued as he wondered what Ochako’s sister was like.
“She’s my opposite in some ways.” Ochako started as if reading his mind. “She’s a bit anti-social, so it may take a bit before you meet.”
Izuku smiled warmly. "That’s okay. I’m sure we’ll all get into UA, so I’ll meet her eventually."
Ochako returned his smile, her gaze softening. As they continued to walk, their path brought them to the end of the pier, where a brightly lit Ferris wheel stood, its colorful lights spinning slowly against the backdrop of the darkening sky. The soft hum of its rotation, combined with the twinkling lights reflecting off the water, created an almost magical scene.
"Hey, Ur-Ochako," Izuku said, catching himself and pointing to the Ferris wheel. "How about we go for a ride?"
Ochako’s eyes lit up with excitement, the brightness of the Ferris wheel reflecting in her gaze. "Yes! That sounds like so much fun!"
Taking each other's hand, they hurried over, bought their tickets, and hopped into one of the gondolas. As the ride began its slow ascent, the view below became more breathtaking with every second. The ocean, lit by the reflections of the pier’s lights, shimmered like something out of a dream, and the warm breeze added a sense of serenity to the moment.
Izuku glanced at Ochako, who was practically beaming with excitement, her eyes wide with wonder as she looked at the view. Unable to resist teasing her a bit, he chuckled softly. "You look like you're having the time of your life."
Ochako’s cheeks flushed as she smiled sheepishly, a little embarrassed. "It's just... I've never been on a Ferris wheel before. I didn’t really have the chance growing up."
Izuku's curiosity piqued, but he decided against prying into her financial situation. Instead, he focused on the present, wanting this moment to be special. "Well, I'm glad we can share this first together," he said earnestly, his voice warm.
Her blush deepened at his words, but she couldn’t stop smiling. The gondola continued its slow, rhythmic turn, and the peacefulness of the ride allowed them to relax. The stars twinkled above as they chatted more freely.
Eventually, Izuku asked, his voice gentle and curious, "So, why do you want to be a hero, Ochako?"
Ochako’s expression shifted, a bit of shyness creeping into her demeanor. "Well… it’s mostly to help my family," she admitted softly, her eyes turning down toward her lap. "I want to make a lot of money so I can support them. We… don’t exactly come from money, and my parent’s construction company hasn’t been doing all that well. Wanting money… It’s not the most heroic reason, I guess."
Izuku’s heart swelled at her words, and he reached over to gently take her hand without thinking. "I think it’s a wonderful reason," he said, his tone sincere. "Supporting your family like that shows how much you care about them. It’s a noble motivation. And… I’d love to support you in any way I can."
Ochako's heart fluttered at his words, and she felt herself falling for him more and more. Overwhelmed by the moment, the emotions she’d been holding back for a while bubbled to the surface. She leaned in and kissed him softly, her lips meeting his in a gentle, heartfelt embrace. Izuku, a bit surprised at first, quickly reciprocated, their first proper kiss deepening as the Ferris wheel reached its peak.
When they finally pulled away, they lingered in each other’s gaze, a newfound sense of connection and affection blooming between them. Neither of them said a word for a moment, but their hands remained entwined as the Ferris wheel continued its slow, steady descent, bringing them back to reality.
As the night wound down, the sound of the waves gently crashing against the shore accompanied Izuku and Ochako as they returned to walking along the beach. While Ochako practically skipped along next to him, Izuku’s thoughts swirled, unable to shake the feeling that something profound had shifted between them. The connection they had felt earlier, intensified by the kiss on the Ferris wheel, now seemed to resonate even more deeply within him. This connection felt solid, and a particular sensation came with it. He was familiar with what this meant. Retcon was about to activate once more.
Izuku reflected on everything she had shared with him that night—her determination to support her family, her kindness, and her quiet bravery. Ochako always carried herself with such selflessness, but there was an insecurity that gnawed at her, seemingly about her financial background and her reason for wanting to be a hero. Would it be right for him to help with this?
‘If I could change something for her…’ Izuku mused, his thoughts deepening. His first instinct was to improve her family's financial situation. Turning a struggling construction company into a successful one would be simple enough. But if he did that, would Ochako still have a reason for wanting to be a hero?
While pondering this, the young man glanced at his date, his eyes unable to help but take in her frame, and a thought from earlier replayed in his mind. ‘A swimsuit would be deadly. She's already so beautiful… She could totally be a model if she wanted.’
A Model. She had always been gorgeous to him, inside and out, but he couldn’t help but imagine how confident and booming she could be in a role like that. The more he thought about it, the more he felt the familiar hum of his quirk taking hold.
Suddenly, there was a subtle shift in the air around them. The change was so seamless that it might have gone unnoticed by anyone else, but Izuku felt it immediately. The world around him felt slightly… different. He blinked, and while Ochako looked the same in many ways, there was something new about her.
Ochako Uraraka now carried herself with an aura of confidence. Her posture was more assured, and her makeup was flawlessly applied in a way that enhanced her natural beauty. She walked with a slight sway in her step, the kind of self-assurance that came from someone used to being in front of cameras. Izuku blinked in surprise, processing the subtle transformation. This version of Ochako had a background of coming from a more well-off family, and her modeling gigs had helped her secure extra cash for fun nights out. Yet, despite the changes, she still looked at him with the same warmth and affection that had drawn him to her in the first place.
"I had such an amazing time tonight, Izuku," Ochako said with a radiant smile. "Thank you for suggesting the Ferris wheel. It’s been a while since I’ve been on one, but I love the view every time. Especially at night when the stars are out. I so have to capture this moment."
With a cheerful laugh, Ochako pulled out her smartphone and began snapping pictures, some of the starry sky and others of the two of them together. She even coaxed Izuku into a few selfies, her arm wrapped around his shoulders as they smiled for the camera.
Izuku smiled back, slightly bewildered by the transformation but also intrigued. "I'm glad you enjoyed it, Ochako."
As she looked back at the photos she’d taken, Ochako giggled, her cheeks flushed with happiness. "Well, next time, it’s going to be my turn to treat you. A night out on me!"
Izuku chuckled, his mind still trying to catch up with the reality Retcon had shaped. "I’ll hold you to that." His eyes softened as he gazed at her, noticing how her confidence shone even brighter under the moonlight. The radiance his date exuded caused him to mutter out his honest thoughts. "Gorgeous."
Ochako blushed, a bit of her old shyness creeping back into her expression as she twirled a strand of her hair. She muttered, "I guess all those modeling gigs have paid off, huh?"
Izuku silently agreed, but part of him was still worried about whether he had taken away her reason to be a hero. At least until his memories settled in place, and he recalled a different outcome from the conversation on the Ferris wheel. Money was no longer in the equation, but he still wanted to hear it from her mouth.
“You mentioned your reason for wanting to be a hero before.” Izuku started. “Smiles, right?”
“Mhm! It’s all about the smiles.” Ochako smiled from ear to ear. “When I was a kid, I saw a hero save the day by defeating a villain, and I’ll never forget how everyone smiled afterward. It was like the whole world lit up, even after something scary. I just… want to bring that kind of happiness to people."
Izuku’s heart swelled with admiration as he listened. This Ochako may have a different path, but she’s still the same kind, compassionate person at her core. He nodded in understanding, feeling a deep connection to her motivation. "I get that. I’ve always admired All Might for that exact reason. No matter how tough the situation, he always did it with a smile, and that changed everything. It’s almost magical how much smiles can change things, huh?”
Ochako herself grew a beautiful smile as her eyes shined with adoration. “For sure! I knew you’d understand! I want to be a hero that makes people smile. I want to see everyone smile."
Without thinking, Izuku wrapped his arms around her, pulling her into a tight embrace. "Then let’s do it," he said, his voice full of warmth. "Let’s become heroes who bring smiles to everyone."
Ochako melted into his arms, her head resting against his chest as she hummed softly. Him wanting to support her dream meant more to her than he could possibly imagine. Every second they spent together, every conversation, every shared moment, he made her fall more in love with him.
As the evening wound down and they strolled back towards Ochako’s hotel, the soft sounds of the city at night provided a calm backdrop for Izuku’s swirling thoughts. He was beyond thrilled to see Ochako so happy and confident, yet the weight of his quirk’s influence tugged at his conscience. Retcon had nudged reality in a direction he hadn’t entirely intended, but it seemed to have worked out for the better. Ochako was radiant, self-assured, and their connection had deepened throughout the night.
When they finally reached the entrance to her upscale hotel, Ochako turned to him with a playful smile that made his heart skip a beat. "Sooo… Did I pass the test, Mr. Hero?"
Izuku blinked, confused for a second. "What do you mean?"
The brunette rolled her eyes in amusement and chuckled, leaning in closer. "The one where I’m trying out to be your girlfriend, duh."
‘Wait… we weren’t already dating?’ Izuku’s eyes widened as the realization hit him like a freight train. He was so used to Katsumi Bakugo’s fiery and fast-paced nature that the slower, more natural progression with Ochako had caught him off guard. He stammered, his face turning beet red. "O-Oh! Well, if you're fine with me. I-I know I can be a dork sometimes, but I really admire you, Ochako. Your drive, your ambitions... You’ll be an amazing hero one day. Not to mention you're gorgeo—"
Before he could finish, Ochako closed the distance between them, her lips crashing against his in a kiss filled with passion and affection. Izuku’s mind went blank for a moment, the warmth of her body pressing against his as their lips melded together. But instead of panicking or pulling away, this time, he responded instinctively, putting everything into this kiss. Despite Ochako’s initial eagerness, Izuku quickly took the lead, his hands gently pulling her closer as he deepened the kiss.
Ochako moaned softly against him, her heart racing as she melted into his embrace. Something about the way Izuku held her–firm yet tender, supportive yet powerful–made her feel safe and cherished. For the first time, she had found someone who appreciated her for more than just her looks. He saw her–the real her–and supported her dreams. ‘He’s my hero,’ she repeated, her emotions overflowing as the kiss lingered.
They were so lost in the moment that the rest of the world seemed to fade away–at least until a voice cut through the haze.
"Ahem. That didn’t take long, huh, Sis?"
The couple sprang apart, both their faces flushed with embarrassment. Izuku looked to the side to see a young woman standing a few feet away, her arms crossed and an eyebrow raised. She had an almost stoic expression, her black hair cascading down her shoulders, and she looked to be around their age.
“Yui! W-What are you doing out here?” Ochako stammered, her eyes wide with surprise.
Yui, who Izuku assumed was Ochako’s half-sister, tilted her head and pointed nonchalantly to a balcony a few stories up. "Saw you from the veranda. Pretty sure the whole hotel heard you two sucking face, so I figured I’d come remind you that you’re, you know, in public."
Izuku felt his face flush even hotter, but before he could speak, Ochako groaned in mortified embarrassment. “I-I... oh no…” Steam practically rose from Ochako’s ears as she realized how caught up they’d been. Without thinking, she activated her quirk and began to float off the ground, flustered beyond belief.
Izuku, snapping out of his own embarrassment, chuckled softly and reached up to gently tug her back down to Earth, holding her securely by the waist. "Easy there. Don’t float away just yet. Uhm, Hi there. I’m Izuku Midoriya. I guess I’m your sister's boyfriend now.”
Instead of responding, the girl stood there, arms still crossed, giving Izuku a long, appraising look. Her gaze was so intense that Izuku couldn’t help but feel like he was being scrutinized. Finally, after what felt like an eternity, Yui gave a simple nod of approval and raised a thumb. "You’re hot. I approve."
Izuku blinked, stunned. "U-uhm… thanks?" He scratched his head awkwardly, completely unsure how to respond to such a blunt comment. But before he could gather his thoughts, Yui had already turned on her heel and walked back into the hotel, leaving them in a flurry of confusion.
Once they were alone again, Ochako sighed and released her quirk, still recovering from the whirlwind of emotions. She leaned against Izuku, looking up at him sheepishly. "S-sorry about her. She doesn’t really have great social skills… or tact, apparently."
Izuku laughed, the awkward tension slowly easing. "Yeah, I can see that."
Ochako, finally regaining her composure, gazed up at him with a soft smile. "I really hope we can do this again soon. It’ll probably be a while until we hear back from UA, but maybe I could take a day trip or two. Or maybe you could stop by one of my shoots."
Izuku’s heart swelled at the idea, his smile matching hers. "I’d like that a lot, Ochako."
Before parting ways, Ochako stood on her tiptoes, giving Izuku a soft kiss on the cheek. "Goodnight, Izuku. I’ll see you soon."
"Goodnight, Ochako," Izuku replied, watching as she walked into the hotel, her confidence radiating from her with every step.
When Izuku finally got home, exhaustion from the evening hit him all at once. He collapsed onto his bed, staring up at the ceiling, his thoughts filled with everything that had happened. Just as he was about to close his eyes and reflect on the night, his phone buzzed with a notification. Curious, he unlocked it to find a message from Ochako.
His eyes widened as he opened the message, revealing not just a simple text but a picture. Ochako, in her swimsuit, smiling confidently for the camera. Her body was just as outrageous as he imagined her to be. Suddenly, the idea of making her a model seemed like one of the best decisions he had ever made with his quirk.
It took a while for him to finally read the attached message. "Since you didn’t get to see it earlier… here’s one from my private collection. <3"
Izuku’s face turned bright red, his heart racing as he stared at the image. A shy smile tugged at his lips, and all he could think about was how lucky he was.
**********
AN: Howdy Howdy! I hope y'all enjoyed our date with our favorite gravity girl Ochako! Not only did we "fix" her financial state, but we somehow made her a model. Not the craziest retcon we've had. Anyways, how many of you predicted that Ochako's half-sister in this story would end up being the one and only Yui Kodai? Considering her appearance was Ochako's "beta" one and her quirk has quite the similarity, I figured she would be the perfect byproduct of the polygamy retcon. I wonder who else in this universe may suddenly find themselves related to one another... Next time, we await the results of the entrance exam and spend some time with our heroic friends! See you soon!
