Chapter 4
by airwreck
Who are you?
Catwoman
Catwoman crouched on the ledge of a rooftop overlooking the Robert Kane Art Gallery, intently watching through the large windows the lone security guard doing his rounds. She had scoped the art gallery for the past few nights and studied the guard's routines. Tonight, she decided, was opportune time to steal an ancient Egyptian gold cat statue for an exhibition on loan by the Wayne Foundation for the Arts. The past few nights police scanners were silent on Batman sightings or the aftermath of him beating up thugs foolish enough to fight him. She did not need the Batman to ruin her plans.
With the finesse of an Olympic gymnast, Catwoman dove off the rooftop and flicked out her whip to catch a pole, swinging to reach the gallery's side wall. With the skill of a export parkour traceuse, Catwoman climbed up the wall and onto the roof. She walked over to the skylight and peered inside. Clicking a button on her domino-shaped infra-red goggles, Catwoman scanned the dark room below and did not see any lasers.
"Too easy," she whispered to herself as she took out a suction cup from her backpack and stuck it to one of the window panes. She used a razor claw to cut one of the glass and quietly removed it. She latched her whip to the skylight and lowered herself down. With a flick of her wrist she disentangled her whip.
She looked around the room for the security cameras and quickly moved out of their view. She had visited the gallery during the day in different disguises the past couple of days to scout the layout of the building and security cameras. She could not avoid all of the cameras but she did not need to because by the police arrive she would be long gone with another piece of antiquity added to her collection. Catwoman hugged the walls, staying within the shadows of the dark room, lit only by the moonlight through the skylight. Like a jungle cat she stalked her prey, waiting at the doorway for the security guard to make his way back. Her patience was awarded by the approaching flashlight beam.
The last thing the guard saw before being knocked **** was a boot to his face. Catwoman caught the flashlight and turned it off, placing it next to the fallen guard. She wandered over to the Egyptian exhibit, ignoring all the other priceless artifacts except for the golden cat. "A bit too easy..."
She quickly spun on her heels to face Batman, who stood several inches taller than her.
"Hello, Selina," the Dark Knight greeted her in his deep voice. She noted that his voice was not gruff and gravelly when he talked to her.
"Hi, handsome," she replied, sauntering up to him. "I thought you were out of town on Justice League stuff?"
"I finished early." His cowl's white goggles hid his eyes but she knew he was watching her unzip her skintight catsuit, revealing her ample cleavage.
"I hope you don't always do that," she purred, running her clawed fingers sensually across his armored chest.
"I'm not going to fight you in here, Selina," Batman warned. She knew he would never risk any of the ancient artifacts being damaged and would rather let her go like he had done many times on the past.
"So I can take this then?" she smirked, reaching over to the gold cat statue.
"I did not say that." He stood there, not making any attempts to stop her from picking up the statue and setting off the alarm, and watched her put the statue in her small backpack. She waved and blew him a kiss as she walked past him, only to take off running back to the room with the skylight. He would always give her a few seconds head start before they do their usual cat-and-bat chase.
Catwoman wrapped her whip on the skylight and quickly scurried up just as Batman walked into the room. She managed to pull her whip back up just as he fired his grappling gun. Batman flew through the open skylight and landed gracefully on the roof, just to see Catwoman standing on the ledge.
"So do you want to fight here or chase me?" Catwoman taunted.
