Who would you like to use this time to catch up with?
Catch up with Tschau
You decided to spend your time checking in with Tschau. {if Bortnik Killed Himself = 1}You couldn't imagine she'd finished struggling with her feelings on Bortnik's death yet; even if she managed to come off cool and calm at the end of the last mission, you didn't want to make any assumptions.{endif}{if Tschau Spared Bortnik = 1}She seemed to have shown some personal growth in her decision to spare Bortnik, but in the end, she'd also cast a bit of suspicion upon herself by doing so. It wouldn't hurt to get an update, just to calm your own nerves.{endif}{if Dr. Bortnik in Russian Custody = 1}She'd seemed especially pissed with you when you decided to hand Bortnik over to the authorities in Russia... Hopefully, time had cooled her head on the matter a bit. After all, what you'd done had been partially motivated by your desire to keep her out of trouble. She would have killed him if she'd gotten the shot to do so. Luckily, she did indeed seem only the usual flavor of moody, when her face appeared upon the monitor{endif}.
Of course, there'd been no delay at all in Tschau picking up your call and answering on her phone. You'd imagine that with nobody around to bug her and no missions to attend to, she'd probably spent this whole time while you were overseas in London hanging around her dark room and using that phone of hers. "Ciao... Don't just call me out of nowhere when I'm not expecting it... When you called me out of nowhere, I expected to see the office up in flames and you dying under a pile of rubble..." the ninja of the Goodbye Girls complained, lowering her eyebrows. You couldn't tell if she was irritated with you or worried for your health.
You assured her that the London division was just fine. In fact, the meeting had gone better than could be expected. It was clear that the efforts of all of the Goodbye Girls had been recognized on an international level.
"... That's none of my business. But I guess it's a good thing," she answered quietly, distractedly swiping around on her phone, even while on video conference with you. "Did you run into Milaslava there? If you did, I hope you threw her out the fourth story window... If you did, make sure we get the case to investigate. I'll make sure it goes cold." You gave a noncommittal answer... {if Spent the Night with Milaslava = 1}The absolute last thing you could ever allow her to catch wind of was how you'd really spent your time with Milaslava while overseas...{endif}
With greetings out of the way, you decided to move onto the subject of her health. You asked her how she felt, with the whole business with Bortnik over.
"... I suppose it's a relief. Don't worry about it. It's not something either one of us needs to think about any longer. Besides, the problem's only half solved... as long as Milaslava's still out there, running free with CEDIT Russia, I don't feel like we've fully dispensed justice," she sighed through the cloth covering of her mask. You wondered if it was alright to leave it at just that...
{if Cam with Tschau > 999} The girl watched you curiously for a while longer in silence; she'd asked to move to a different topic, but she hadn't offered any suggestions. Her cat-like eyes were nearly unblinking. Finally, she spoke back up. "Is Goodbye asleep?"
You assured her that Goodbye had been asleep this whole time.
"Good. I wanted to do a cam-show... You don't have anything better to do, right? Just watch my show..." The ninja's voice was somewhat needy as she encouraged you to tune in. You asked her: had she not done any shows while you were overseas? That wouldn't be so strange for an ordinary camgirl, but Tschau's upload numbers proved that she had a ridiculous rate of output. You told her you weren't exactly sure about using the Gambit's wi-fi network to visit After Dark Dominoes. "J-Just do it... And don't forget to hit the heart button. If you hit the heart button early on, everyone else will want to hit it too. It helps me show up on the front page. Don't forget."
You chuckled, amused at always at the dichotomy between Tschau's cold ninja personality, her needy, easily-aroused camera persona, and the childish side of her that just wanted affirmation. After turning the volume down low, you told her you could tune in once she was ready.
"... Nevermind."
Nevermind? You raised an eyebrow.
"... I think I'd rather just talk with you instead," she admitted, looking a bit pinker than usual in the face. "D-Don't be weird about it. I'll do a show later, once you're back at the base. Let's just talk about London..."{endif}
With the status update finished, you spent the rest of the time regaling Tschau with stories about your original headquarters and catching up with old friends there, as well as the interesting people you'd met at the committee. You thought she'd be bored, but it seemed to keep her oddly captivated... The conversation lasted nearly to the time you reached Washington again.
