By knocking

After beating on the locked door, my wife showed herself at the window.

"Let me in," I pleaded.

"I will after you set the spinkler out in the front yard."

I turned to see Mrs. Felts still peering out her window at me. I had ****, but to dig out the sprinkler from the clutter in the garage, hook it to my hose pipe, and head toward the front yard. I looked both ways along the street and no cars were seen. I checked the neighbors across the street and there was no sign anyone was looking. I was about to place the sprinkler down when I heard footsteps and turned to see two female joggers headed my way. A glance up to my next door neighbor told me Mrs. Felts had caught the whole thing too.

I ran back to the house and found the door unlocked and dashed inside. My wife came in still laughing.
