Brotherhood of Evil Mutants (1964)

Shortly after his first defeat at the hands of the X-Men in "Uncanny X-Men #1 (1963)", Magneto returned with an entire team of mutants! The team was originally made up of 3 men and 1 woman.

Pietro Maximoff AKA "Quicksilver": Twin brother of the Scarlet Witch (and, unbeknownst to anyone, son of Magneto), Pietro has the ability to run at near super-sonic speeds. His speed and ability to use it to land hundreds of punches in the blink of an eye, race past security devices, or simply outrun pursuers can be very effective!

Wanda Maximoff AKA "Scarlet Witch": Twin sister of Quicksilver (and, unbeknownst to anyone, daughter of Magneto), Wanda has the unique ability to effect probability fields. This allows her to make the seemingly impossible happen with a mere thought. Her ability to control probability, though, does not spare her the constant come-ons from her male team mates nor does it spare her from the violent rage of their leader- Magneto.

Mortimer Toynbee AKA "Toad": Born in York, England; Toad's early life was difficult. Though in many ways able to pass as human... his mutant abilities were present since birth giving him a rather ugly appearance and an oddly shaped body. He possessed the potential for great intelligence but his inferiority complex and drive to be subservient to others has lead many to believe him to be mentally disabled. His original powers were a superhuman leaping ability and a protracted tongue.

Jason Wyngarde AKA "Mastermind": Arguably the most powerful member of The Brotherhood, Jason has the ability to generate complex telepathic illusions. So powerful are these illusions that at one point, Magneto and Mastermind were able to conquer an entire country with the illusion of thousands of soldiers. Almost nothing is known of the man prior to joining Magneto's Brotherhood; but it is known that he rarely allows people to see his true form as he would rather give them the illusion that he is a handsome and powerful looking man.
