Chapter 12

Back to Kalikori Village
Bring the weapons back
The first thing you hear upon returning is someone shouting, screaming. Stepping inside the matriarch's home, you find Ranna Tao'ven and Master Din standing in front of a Twi'lek guard. He rants and raves, fury etched into his face.
"She died in my arms!" His eyes burn with pain, rage, and grief. "You should've seen what those filth did to her!"
Ranna gives her sympathies, but he ignores them. He demands blood for blood, wanting nothing less than ten dead Flesh Raiders for each and every pilgrim lost.
Ranna looks visibly disturbed, but then your master speaks up, "Will that restore your loved one to life?"
You look to him, seeing his solemn face. There is no spite or annoyance in his face, only sadness. He shares the Twi'lek's grief, but the pilgrim does not share his respect for life.
He snaps at him, nearly frothing at the mouth. Then, he turns to you. He demands to know where you were while the Flesh Raiders attacked, while they pillaged and **** the village.
You answer by setting down your backpack and sack of weapons, laying them out. "I was collecting weapons for you. I thought whatever I couldn't destroy at the Flesh Raider camps, you could use to defend yourselves."
The man's anger does not subside, but you can feel it lessen by a degree. He picks one blaster up and inspects it, then checks the battery pack.
"These will do," he huffs.
With that, he marches out, leaving you with Ranna and Master Din.
"I apologize about, Saylew." Ranna wrings her hands, eyes downcast. "His wife was everything to him, and now...."
"She's gone." Master Din sighs, bowing his head. "People often wonder why Jedi are forbidden to marry or have families. They don't see how attachments always lead to suffering."
He looks to you, obviously trying to convey a lesson. You listen, mull over it, and then bow your own head.
Could you really not form attachments? Never find someone to love? Never dedicate yourself to something more than your duty?
Suddenly, T7 rolls up beside you and jitters, releasing a string of chirps and beeps. "Oh, um, this is Teeseven." You gesture at the astromech. "He was captured by the Flesh Raiders. You'll want to see the holorecording he made."
Your master hums, studying the droid before he kneels down to inspect it. After a second, he looks up at you. "While I deal with the droid, talk to Ranna. I think her people are ready to help us, thanks to you."
You obey and go to talk with the matriarch's daughter, finding her discussing matters with the village's scout chief. Moorint looks to you and regards you with a solemn nod before stepping aside to help his men to gather the blasters up.
"With the weapons and tech you brought from the Flesh Raiders, my people can defend themselves." She blushes then, and averts her eyes from you. "Your heroism gives me hope that we'll survive this."
The praise brings a little red to your cheeks as you rub your neck. "Um, thanks... Uh, how's your mother? Is she feeling better?"
Ranna's face falls then, and you watch her shoulders slump.
"No." She wrings her hands. "We're doing all we can... Thank you for asking."
You nod as the scout chief returns, clearing his throat. Ranna turns to him and asks him to report everything they've learned about the Flesh Raiders. He claims that they've taken full control of the mountains, building a primitive fortress on top of a ridge. Now, though, they're starting to invade a place called "the Ruins of Kaleth".
That's when Master Orgus steps in. "Kaleth was a great city of ****-users. Its ruins hold powers we still don't understand."
With that, you part ways with the Twi'leks and return to the Jedi Temple. On the speeder ride over, he explains what your next step will be. After you've had your rest and gathered enough supplies, you'll head to Kaleth and spearhead an attack to push the Flesh Raiders out of the ruins. Meanwhile, he'll bring T7 to the Jedi Council so they can discuss the new information you've found.
Upon arrival, he leaves with a curt farewell. You notice he looks disturbed, muttering something about the hooded figure in the recording sounding familiar.
Taking a respite from your training, you collect supplies and rest. When the time comes, you prepare to head out to Kaleth. Although, you notice a pair of Jedi discussing vehemently nearby.
Head to Kaleth or talk with the masters?
