Braving the current

With the last of their combined strength the two girls who could not agree on anything dived into the water allowing the current to drag them downstream away from the threat of the three pursing men.

Just as they rounded the corner they saw the three men staring after them and then when they were out of sight they began to stoke towards the shore. But, the water's current was strong and they were now weak and unable to do much as they continued towards the fast growing rapids that their classmates shot through earlier.

Between their weariness and the water's strength they were soon bouncing off of boulders and flung around like small sticks, until at long last they were finally on a small beach of dirt and pebbles, groaning with the pain of their struggles just looking at one another. Feeling safe at the moment, they both passed out.
