You call the number from the original ad and wait with a churning stomach, hoping against hope that they will at least hear out your crazy proposal.

"Andrews residence, Alexis speaking." Alexis's voice came down the line. It felt like your heart was beating at a million miles an hour.

"Hey Alexis, would you mind getting your mother and putting the phone on speaker? I've got a proposal for you both." You tried to speak calmly but your words gushed out in a single breath none the less.

About two minutes if silence went by and then Miss Andrews' voice came down the line. "Well we're both here! I'm guessing you've made a decision then Hun?"

You gulped and took a deep steadying breath. This was fucking crazy, there is no way either of them would accept this cop out of a decision. "Firstly, I would like to say I'm sorry!" You could almost see their looks of confusion and consternation. "I'm sorry for taking so long to decide and I'm sorry for damaging your family dynamic." There was a moments silence then a peal of warm and affectionate laughter reached your ears.

"Hun, you didn't damage anything. Alexis and I just know what we want and will do anything to get it. Plus she is extremely competitive, ambitious and focused. She gets it from me!" Miss Jones's stated, her voice tinged with a mix of exasperation and pride. "So what's your decision?"

You took another deep breath. "Honestly miss Jones, I have been wracking my brains over this all week! Debating and counter debating myself. And I'm afraid I just can't decide. I really like and need both of you, but I don't want to cause a rift or any ill will between you two... So I have a crazy ass proposition for you both." The air filled with a palpable, electric tension on both ends of the phone. Here goes nothing, you thought to yourself. "What if I moved in with you both permanently? There are 7 days in a week right? So we could split it to 3 days each for you both to use me and then on the seventh day you could both use me at the same time or something? Or maybe let me rest? It's up to you."

The silence this time was long, uncomfortable and charged. "We will need time to think about this and discuss it. I'll be honest, I'm disappointed at this cop out, but I can understand your reasoning for it." Miss Jones sighed heavily. "You took a week to come to this, so give us a week think about this proposal of yours. How should we contact you to let you know?"

"Of course, take all the time you need." You quickly replied, relieved that they hadn't gotten mad at you or rejected to your idea out right. "You can always call me whenever, you should have my number displayed in your caller id. Alternatively you could come to my place and discuss things face to face, any time between 6-10 pm. We can discuss particulars and logistics or anything you want." You gave them your address and they told you they'd be in touch.
